Most Ohio recruits tend to be in the 120-182 range, but they land a few players with higher points. Most of the QBs on the list are certainly possible.

On paper Windham is the highest recruited QB in our program. He has not yet been able to break through. Starting year 4 in our program after RS and disciplinary year.
I think Krizancic only played QB 1 year in HS hence Minnesota recruited him as a WR.
Our other new QB could be very good but from the film I saw he did not play at a high level of HS ball. There could be a lengthily adjustment to D1.
I think we will lineup with Vick/Sprague/Windham and Duckworth.
It would be nice if somebody would really breakout.

I agree, C. Money. Also, he frequently rolls and/or drops deeper. I suspect it means a leaky offensive line, and they want him to have time. Here are Hudls for some of the others:

I really like Jackson. He has offers from Northwestern, Air Force, BC, BG, EMU, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Syracuse, Toledo, Utah, and WV, so he's probably a long shot.

Not looking to challenge this assertion, but what makes you feel confident about Quinton Maxwell? If I'm not mistaken, this is a guy who finished his senior season around .500 in what many on here described a weak conference and received no other scholarship offers. I do like that he combined for over 5,000 yards in his career rushing and passing. But, as was mentioned before, lets look at two rivals and the QBs they have on their rosters (BGSU and Miami). These are not programs that should be out-recruiting us. Yet they seem to be doing so consistently at the most important position.

BGSU:
most recent signee: James Morgan, 4 star signee who was rated by 24/7 as the 17th best pro-style QB in country. Rated #1 QB in Wisconsin. His passing numbers make Maxwell's look miniscule in comparison.

Also on the roster:
James Knapke--only QB in Indiana HS history to win three state titles, was All-State QB, owns conference all-time record for passing yards and touchdowns.

Matt Johnson--returning starter, graduated HS as the 5th all-time in Pennsylvania passing yards (7,944) and 8th all-time in TDs (85). All-State his senior season, was 39-5 as a starter.

Nolan Dieter--all-state his senior season, 5,815 yards, 72 touchdowns in HS. Came in via transfer from Indiana.

Cody Callaway--over 7,000 yards passing (Lorain County (OH) record) with 69 touchdowns. 2nd team All-State.

It's just frustrating to see all these decorated QBs at other schools, while OHIO is having to consistently find diamonds in the rough. I hope Quinton turns into something great, but there's little in his past to show that he'll be a stud here.

Both have stronger football traditions, and both have had strong recruiting for years. From a wishful thinking standpoint, I'd like to see Ohio out-recruiting everyone, but from a practical standpoint, it's difficult for me to say what "should" or "shouldn't" be happening.

I do think that Ohio has been steadily improving in recruiting, and on the whole is recruiting in the top half of the MAC, finally, except, for whatever reason, at QB. I don't know why Ohio hasn't had stronger recruiting at QB.

I honestly have no idea why Ohio has struggled to land top QB recruits. It's actually better now than it was, though it would be hard to be worse. Here's a list of all the Freshman QB recruits (not counting transfers and JUCOs) since 2003:
2003 - Everson, Jefferson (moved to WR)
2004 - Petruziello (transferred, ended at John Caroll)
2005 - Febus (played sparingly), Jones (injured, played sparingly)
2006 - none
2007 - Sweeney (injured, never played)
2008 - none
2009 - Tettleton
2010 - Snyder (transferred to SE Missouri St)
2011 - Vick, Bell (transferred, now at Georgia St)
2012 - Windham
2013 - none (Walsh bailed at the last minute)
2014 - Duckworth
2015 - Maxwell

In the 6 years from 2003-2008, there was ony one Freshman recruit that ended up a starting QB, Everson. In the next 5 years, from 2009-2013, there were at least two, Tettleton and Vick, with Windham still playing, and a shot to be a starter at some point in the future. Hopefully the 2014+ recruits will be better yet.

Thanks to transfer Bower, plus JUCOs T3 and Boo, Ohio had some decent QB play over the years, but Freshman QB recruiting has always been an adventure.

I'm trying to think of QB injuries:
1. In 2006 Everson had an ankle sprain against Akron, and he might have been running the ball, but I'm not sure. He missed the Miami game from the injury.
2. In 2008 Scott took a hit against Ohio State on a sack, and had a broken collarbone, and missed the rest of the year.
3. In 2012 TT took a shot to the ribs against Marshall, and I think he was running the ball at the time. He missed the Norfolk State game.
4. In 2014 Vick had an ankle sprain on a fluke play when a defender rolled under his knee after he threw a pass, and he missed 4 games.

The two most serious injuries both came on pass plays, not on the QB being asked to run the ball.

I agree with this statement, in that the offense that we run is not attracting good QB's. But I think it's the style and Frank's reputation as an option guy...as well as our desire to recruit dual-threat types.

Frank is 11 years at Ohio. I wonder to what extent he still has a reputation as an option guy. Indeed, I wonder what reputation he has among high school coaches.

Totally agree with the thought of dual-threat types. I don't think Coach Solich is looking for the classic drop-back passer, not that those types exist anymore.
