I’ve thought for awhile our HS recruiting has amped up this year, judging by offer sheets, but as the season progresses and recruits roll in, I’ve noticed something else: Winners.

Our class currently has a combined HS record of 99-23 (81%), and a vast majority (12 of 15) are on state-ranked teams.

Check it out:

QB Levi Davis — Olentangy Orange is 9-0 and ranked 2nd (AP) in the state. Davis, who led Orange to a state title in basketball in March, is a strong candidate for Mr. Football. He has 1,400 yards passing, 600 yards rushing, and Orange averages 38.9 ppg. Plans to enroll at Ohio in January.

RB/ATH Brandon Jenkins (Hersey HS, Ill.) — Hersey HS stands 6-2 and undefeated in the tough Mid-Suburban East. Hersey is ranked 22nd in the Illinois Top 25 All-Division Power Poll. Check out Jenkins’ mid-season highlights here.

RB/WR James Kelly (Hewitt Trussville AL) — Kelly lines up at QB, RB and WR, and has his school to a 7-2 start, ranked 6th in the state of Alabama’s big school division (7A).

WR Kaden Page (Wapokeneta) — Page looks to best his school record 88 catches for 1,300+ yards and has the Redskins out to a 9-0 record and ranked second in Ohio Division 3 (AP).
Weeks 1-8 highlights here: http://www.hudl.com/video/3/17986146/68d4acb319090ccc704f...

WR Marcus Hughbanks (Batavia) — Hughbanks also had 1,300 yards as a junior, and at 6-3 and an All-American 300m hurdler, has a very high ceiling. Batavia is 4-5 and must win in Week 10 to make the playoffs.
Some impressive senior year highlights: http://www.hudl.com/v/2SksJi

OL Danny Fortson Jr. (Cincinnati Princeton)— picked up football only two years ago and is putting together a dominating senior season. Princeton is 8-1 and ranked 8th in the state.
Highlights from games 1-8 here: http://www.hudl.com/v/2Sz7Dw

OL Michael Montgomery (West Branch, IA)—West Branch is 6-2 and ranked 7th in the state. Montgomery is also a basketball player.

OL Job Mavrick (Westfield, IN)— Westfield is 7-2 and ranked 6th in the state of Indiana 6A (biggest schools). Mavrick plays center. State wrestling finalist last year.

OL Colton Crosley (Walsh Jesuit HS) — Walsh is 7-1 and ranked 7th in Ohio’s tough Division 2. Their only loss is by five points to last season’s state runner up Hoban.

DE Troy Stiggers (Stephenson HS, GA) — Stephenson is 7-1 and ranked 7th in Georgia’s 3A. Stiggers has been a sack machine to date.

DL Austin Adkins (Strongsville HS) — Adkins has helped revitalize a Steongsville program that is 7-2 and trails Mentor by one game in the Greater Cleveland Conference.
Here are some highlights from weeks 1-4. He tied the school record with six sacks in week 6. He definitely looks good in green and white.

CB Kindall Brown (Maple Heights HS) — Maple Heights is 6-3 and fighting for a playoff spot in Ohio Division 3. Brown leads a group called “DB High” by Cleveland.com.

S Malachi Taylor (Pickerington North HS) — Taylor joins quite a list of greats to make the quick trip from Pickerington down 33 to Athens, including his brother Mike. North is 8-1 and ranked 5th in the state of Ohio Division 1.

S Ryan Miller (Pickerington North HS) — An early commit from last February, Miller was joined by recent commit Taylor as a future Bobcat. Could project as a LB in college.

DB/WR James Brewer (Walsh Jesuit HS) — Great size and athlete who will find a position in college and excel. One of the few, two-way players for the 7-1, 7th-ranked, Warriors.
