Video highlights from HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3553500/marcus-brunson

Rivals shows he had offers from Cincinnati, Temple and Wisconsin. Doesn't appear as though he committed anywhere on Signing Day.

Bio from FloridaGridironPreps.com:

Named the 2014 Daytona Beach News Journal's Defensive Player of the Year.
One of the states most feared defenders. Finds the ball and will not be denied getting there.
Had an incredible senior campaign with a whopping 30 SACKS and 47 TACKLES FOR LOSS. Led a Daytona Beach Mainland defense that orchestrated 5 shutouts and allowed only 10 points a game. His Mainland Bucs team was ranked #1 in Class 6A for the majority of the 2014 season. The 13-1 Bucs' only loss coming to South Florida nemesis and 3time 6A State Champion Miami Central.

So the questions are who left to make room and why is he still available?

The Florida pipeline has officially opened in spades. We are certainly increasing the number of Florida guys recently-up to 6 in this class by last count. Welcome aboard!

Despite the UC and Wisconsin offer, this guy is somewhat under the radar:
unranked by ESPN http://tinyurl.com/pkaol5l
2 stars/5.3 by Rivals http://tinyurl.com/p4fwyhw
unranked by 247Sports http://247sports.com/Player/Marcus-Brunson-58990

Watching his Hudl, he certainly can play, and I'd say is at least worthy of 3 stars, if not 4. So, why didn't he have more offers? Why no verbal? Why was he still available? Who left to make room for him? Is he related to Ohio DB Curtis Brunson? I have only questions, no answers.

What I do know is that someone wanted more Florida kids, well, here's one more. The class this fall is going to have some beasts in it on the defensive side.

Maybe Williams didn't qualify but Brunson did?

I wonder if this means we won't see Najee Stevens-McKenzie after his JUCO tour of duty.

A lot of the kids that end up in JUCO don't manage to get eligible even with a second chance. It's not a free ride - they have to do college level work, and succeed to become eligible. If he qualifies, I'd think Ohio will take him.

Speaking of JUCOs, has anyone heard any work on Chek Washington, Jared Brumfield, and Tyler Jones, from the class of 2014? They should be done with JUCO in time for class of 2016 or 2017. I know Leavitt is in the class of 2016, but it seems he's looking elsewhere.

IPF and the MAC with Florida bowl games helps. Tough to pass up on a trip to the Bahamas.

I think everyone wants that, but you've been the most vocal. That's good! I think that there actually be a change in strategy on this, but it could be that we have some resources to actually get some more guys. Once it starts, it can only get better.

1. If you look at the stars, they can play.
2. If you look at the other offers, they can play.
3. If you look at their film, they can play.

Unless they don't qualify, or unless they have some injury, I don't see how Ohio can go wrong with these guys. Also, Casper, I stick my neck out a lot and make a lot of predictions, and that means that while I'm right sometimes, I'm also wrong sometimes. It goes with the territory. No one is going to hold it against you if you are occasionally wrong, such as if one of these Florida guys doesn't work out.

Question still remains - did we have an offer open, or did one open up recently? If the latter...who/how?

It sure seems like a lot more turnover this off season than ever before. Is that just random or not?
The big (for us) coaching changes took place before last year, not this year so that can't be it.

Oddly he shows on edirectory as enrolled, but is not on the 2015 Roster. I wonder if it's an oversight?

That would be my guess. It seems at this time of year the published roster is kind of an approximation to reality, not reality itself.

He appeared in an Arkley report earlier this week, and was finally added to the roster today, so it was apparently just an oversight.

Personally, I'm as excited about having this guy as any of the new recruits. His numbers look really good.
