Warren Local 2 way lineman Brandon Pahl has been in contact with the football staff but has not been offered. He played on the defensive line for the North team in the Blue/Gray all star game in Tampa on Saturday night. He finished with 4 tackles, 1 sack, 2 hurries and he blocked a PAT. At 6'4" 295 pounds he has the D-1 size and he was a state place winner in wrestling last season. And by the way wrestlers make great D linemen. I pasted a link that has rosters and commitment info.

Brandon was not offered anything by OU but was told he could enroll next fall and attempt to try out in January of 2016. But he was invited and accepted a preferred walk offer by the reigning national champs at Ohio State. Curious that a kid in the Bobcats back yard that would have loved to been a Bobcat got a much better offer from Columbus. He is to report there in June for the summer session.

Glad he found a home.

I don't know a lot about OSU's program as I try to avoid it like the plague, but haven't they started down the road of over-signing kids? That would mean that more than likely no walk-ons are given scholarships. Some kids want to just be around the machine in Columbus for obvious reasons, nothing wrong with that. If you want to try and earn your way on the field and try and earn a scholarship there are better places to do it including Ohio.

Good luck to him!

Wrestler, 6'4" 295 lbs and columbus takes as preferred walker but we didn't offer (not sure what 'offer'means here). Curious since d-line seems to be our big weakness.

As I understand it, there are two paths to becoming a walkon. One path is to get admission to the school by normal means, and to participate in tryouts. The other is to be a preferred walkon, where the athletic department helps you gain admission, and then you bypass the tryouts. Either way, you are still a walkon, and you still have a lot to prove before you earn a scholarship.

Columbus isn't the only school within in 80 miles of Athens to over sign this year.
