Yes, he's not listed at all in Rivals, and while he's listed at 247Sports, he isn't rated. His only other offer seems to be EMU. I note that he's listed as a DT as well, and from watching his hudl, I see him as a DT.

Honors:
First team all-SW District at DT
GMC Defensive player of the year
First team All-Ohio (along with Davon Hamilton former Ohio Commit)

At 240 he'll need to bulk up some to play DT, but he looks like he'll be a beast in the middle. With him, McKnight, Arp, and Stevens-McKenzie, they really recruited some excellent defensive linemen this year. I wanted to see 2-3 DTs in this class, and I have them.

I'm guessing he has the scholarship that Williams had. It didn't stay available very long.

It sounds like EMU wanted him at LB. I guess we'll find out on signing day where Ohio plans to use him.

At 6-0 225 I'd imagine we will use him at LB too. That is what ESPN says he projects as anyway: http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recrui...

Being GMC defensive player of the year is no joke, sounds like an impressive player.

I agree that's his resume is impressive. Perhaps the reason he didn't have tons of offers is because people were uncertain where they'd use him. I think he'll be good wherever they use him, to be honest.

Please tell me the correct pronunciation of his last name is that of a certain Comedy Central host? How sweet it would be to have a weekly special on OhioBobcats.com covering the football team and called the Colbert Report.

I've seen his weight anywhere from 225 to 250. I think I'd prefer that he go the slimmer route and play MLB rather than DT. It will be interesting to see how the coaches view him.

Here's an interview with Demetrius and Mayne Williams:

Mayne is obviously well spoken, and a leader. Demetrius is clearly a Bobcat, even though he's not showing yet on the Ohio board.

Fantastic. Colbert is beaming - congrats young man

Interviewer: (to Williams) "What can they expect from you at Ohio"

Williams: (on the field) be "rough, nasty, hard. Be a smart guy - study my playbook. Be a nice young man on campus and keep my head in the classroom."

Outstanding!!

No, and not discussed at the conference. Of course if they do not have the completed official document, they can't comment on him. Hopefully Mike is right, and it is something as simple as his guardian needing to sign.

He is still tweeting like a guy that has closed the deal, and who will be at Ohio in the fall:

[quote=Demetrius Colbert]I honestly think we have the best recruiting class in the Mac #bobcat19 #DreamGreen19 #BobcatNation[/OUTER_QUOTE]
After looking at it carefully, I believe he's right.

From his twitter, he took the ACT yesterday. Good luck to him. I also note that yesterday he tweeted:
"I think I made the right decision by going to Ou man"

Let's hope that whatever details need to get taken care of are no problem. I'd love to see his name on the list.

Awesome! Whatever was the paperwork delay took awhile, but finally came through. Here's the highlight video:
http://dlvr.it/8cv29X

I note that it lists him as "DL". The highlight video shows him lined up variously at DE, DT, MLB and OLB, so he's a versatile guy. I'm thinking he'll start out at DE, but the coaches will probably wait to decide for sure until he arrives. Regardless of what position he plays, I think he'll be a very good football player.

He's lined up at DE most often in that highlight video, but in a 3-4 defense with an OLB outside, and he almost always shoots the inside gap. I'm not sure if that translates to a DE in our 4-3 scheme. I'm thinking maybe he bulks up a bit and plays the tackle spot...McKnight at nose and Colbert at tackle.

I was thinking Arp at nose, McKnight at DT, and Colbert and Key at DE. You are certainly right that Colbert may bulk some and play inside. The recruiting services, as usual, report a variance of sizes and weights. The first height/weight below is from the Ohio recruiting video, the ones in parenthesis are as reported by various recruiting services:
Arp - 6'3" 256 (or 6'3" 265)
McKnight - 6'3" 267 (or 6'1" 242 or 6'2" 260)
Colbert - 6'0" 250 (or 6'0" 230 or 6'1" 220 or 6'0" 225)
Key - 6'3" 221 (or 6'3" 216)

If the Ohio numbers are right, the weight/height ratio for these players is:
McKnight 3.56 lbs/inch
Colbert 3.47 lbs/inch
Arp 3.41 lbs/inch
Key 2.95 lbs/inch

Here are the typical height/weight ratios by position:
NG - 4.1 (Crutcher 4.11, Tautuaiki 4.11, Aloese 4.07, Huynh 4.04, Williamson 4.30, Yates 3.78)

DT - 3.7 (McLeod 3.66, Purdum 3.55, Davis 3.73, Hastings 3.63, C. Jones 3.58, Hodge 3.99, Cohen 3.63)

DE - 3.3, but 3.1 to 3.6 (Basham 3.29, Laseak 3.11, Sayles 3.57, K. Smith 3.25, Branz 3.38, C. Meyers 3.54, Scott 3.25, Notestine 3.25, Gatling 3.07, Luchsinger 3.29, Hartke 3.47)

Where these recruits end up depends a lot on how much weight they add in their time at Ohio. McKnight, Colbert, or Arp could end up at either inside spot, or, if he stays the same size, Colbert could end at DE. I recall that Sayles, when recruited, was projected by some to play DT, but has been at DE, and Colbert could do the same.

FWIW, one additional thought on Colbert is that I love having defensive linemen that used to play some linebacker. It opens up the possibility of doing zone blitzes (bringing a linebacker, and then dropping a linemen back into zone coverage).

I forgot about Arp....I think he's a guy that could play inside at tackle or outside at end (I can't remember if Hartke ever lined up inside, but Arp's frame reminds me of him). If nothing else, the coaches have some flexibility in putting a lineup together.

Well, DT has been a major concern for me, with the loss of Crutcher, McLeod, and Davis this year, and then losing Tautuaiki and Purdum next year, it was going to be down to Aloese and Porter, plus some others that could move to DT, such as Kuhar, and some walkons. Adding three potentially outstanding DTs is exactly what this class needed.
