Thought we had a good kicker already. So is this guy the new punter?

Farkas and Zervos on the roster. Who's gone?

Farkas will be the punter next year. Looks like a competition between Zervos and O'Neill for kicking duties.

Farkas is the punter, and Zervos the place kicker. Zervos appears to still be the kicker, so this verbal is out of left field.

There are things we don't know. I have gotten used to it.

They did something without clearing it with you? There is just something to which we are not privy. Don't get your feathers all ruffled.

lets just have 85 scholarship kickers, that would be alright with you as long as we have Frank. The kids video showed him kicking 25 yard field goals, pretty impressive, that's winning in the living room. They could not do it without you bcat2

I thought the same thing about the field goals and then I finally figured out there're points after touchdowns mostly. What is impressive are the kick offs which are into the end zones, no returns, that's impressive for a high schooler. They are kicking off from 40 so not quite as impressive as I thought.

Since I have no clue what is going on, and why they are adding another kicker, I'm just going to wait for the news. I'm sure that if the reason, whatever it may be, doesn't come out before hand, someone will ask about it at signing day.

Doesn't say anything about a scholarship. My guess is he committed to a preferred walk-on position with the promise if he wins the job he gets the scholarship. To my knowledge the staff has never kept multiple scholarship kickers, punters, or long snappers. I don't think they just decided to change course on that.

That's exactly what I was going to say. The kid didn't say anything about getting a scholarship.

I talked with one of our best all time kickers that watched Zervos in pre game warm ups at Idaho.

He thought there were lots of technique issues with his kicks. Maybe they didn't get fixed.

I have checked into a bit and that appears to be the situation. If he wins the job, he gets the scholarship. That's usually the way the kicking situation has been handled under Solich.

This comment reminded me of an article I read earlier this year (can't remember the source). Basically, the thrust of the article was that very few special teams coaches know anything about kicking technique, so specialists are basically left to fend for themselves.

With no snap, hard to get a real judge, but the kicker should always approach the ball with the same immediacy. Putting a clock on just him it's about 1.1 second per approach to contact. Tad slow, strong leg though.
