Coach Beurket just retweeted this from a 3-star WKU decommit:

7 scholarship linemen in a single class seems...excessive...even if a few of them are JUCO transfers....

It would be nice to have at least 4 seniors in every o/line class...and look for the Albanian Bear to play some next year.

OK, let's figure this out....

It looks like Taeshon Trotter is now with the DL, and Desmond Noel is off the roster. So, we have:
1 yr remaining (SR next yr): McCray, Murdock, Wood, Pruehs
2 yr remaining (JR next yr): Anderson, Dudziak, Lowery
3 yr remaining (SO next yr): Grimes, Pleasants, and possibly JUCOs Haas, Hayes, and Newton, if they don't redshirt
4 yr remaining (RS FR/FR that play): Fernandez, Beadle, and Notestine, and possibly Tusha
5 yr remaining (FR that redshirt): Jackson, Maservy

So I guess that's not a horrible logjam, although depending on how redshirts go for the JUCO guys it could turn into one in 3 or 4 years.

If we can dominate the line, we can run the ball.

Not surprised by this move. Honestly, we've all said we need O-line depth and since we have a new O-line coach, must have looked at our personnel and said we needed instant help and future help. Will be interesting to see how this pans out......

Quality more than depth. Eric Herman seems like the last O-lineman we've had who was a totally strong, MAC-dominant stalwart.

We need all the offensive line help we can get. I haven't seen a dominant offensive line overall in Athens for years. maybe one or two studs but never 4 or 5.

Skill players are only as good as the trench players.

The 2011-12 offense line was very good. Going from memory, you had Prior/Lechner, Carlotta/Lucas, Powell/Allen, Herman/Johnson, and Flading/McGrath. Unfortunately, that was the only year under Lightner when you had both quality and depth. Some people blame Ohio's offensive woes in recent years on play calling. I blame it on the offensive line, and to a lesser degree, QB play.

The defensive line has gotten dramatically better under Williams, but it took about three or four years. If Johnson is going to have the same impact on the offense line, we should start seeing things improve in the next year. The fact that he took 3 JUCO linemen this year is an indication that he doesn't think that the current upperclassmen (Lightner recruits) are the answer, and that he's getting some pressure to solve the problem sooner rather than later.

It could be a confidence issue with recruits or it could be a push to bring in more talent following a few years where the class has filled up early. Frank said in one of the interviews where he thinks the facilities have built up to the point where they are fairly attractive to recruits. More facilities are on their way in the next 1-2 years.

Sorry, but 12 years in, I'll believe it when it happens.

You can be satisfied with hope, however unfulfilling that has been.

I prefer to judge on the actuality, the results.

Hope is fine. But it shouldn't blind one from the evident truth.

After it's been less than fulfilling for 12 years, one would be a bit foolish to believe that it will change.

If I have a relationship with something or someone for many years and there's something that irks me about it, for a bit of time the problem is the other. But after a while the problem is me for staying or for not addressing the situation to change it.

Breaking news from Monroe.

Until you show evidence of grasping this common sense, I'll be here for you.
