Jordan Nevels and Mike Mitchell both committed to play at Ohio, both had offers from Kentucky. Mitchell kept his commitment and became a second round pick and Nevels went to Kentucky and rode the Pine. nevels was better than Mitchell in high school, he transferred to D1AA or (fcs) for the semantic police and got a tryout with the cardinals. the kid now is doing ab tapes and saying he is a former NFL player. People can always reach for the stars, but it is better to go where you can shine. Ellison has 4.6-4.7 speed, he will not shine at OSU because they recruit all-Americans every year. Kareem Hunt would have had the same opportunities, but he had the grades, he went to Toledo and is now ranked the number 2 senior back going into the draft, if he runs below a 4.6 he will be a third rounder or better. You have to be sober minded. That being said, we will land a great back who will have the chance to shine. Ohio is a great place. We need to find a kid that wants to be great here. Our strength coaches will get that 40 time down, AJ improved by 2/10th's this year and Brown ran a 4.4.Don't go to a higher school just to say you went, be strategic.

The hard part about this is that no kid thinks he is going to ride the pine. They all think they will be starting in a year or two at whatever school they end up playing for.
I don't have any specific football examples, but we narrowly missed out on a couple of basketball players to Michigan, Trey Burke and Caris LeVert. Neither were outstanding by recruiting standards for Michigan at the time, but obviously they both ended up doing great things and both made the NBA.

How does this relate to certain closely-related qb prospect?
