Nice pick-up. Wonder if the Bobcats beating Toledo played any role...

3 Stars on 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout. 247sports says he's the 24th best back in the country. Rivals Says #32. Scout says # 43. He's the highest rated player I can recall. A factor here that kept the big boys away may be he only played two games his sophomore year and none his junior year due to leg fractures.

An interesting article...

As you'll notice we now have commits from the two top Nike+ Sparq rated players at this testing event in Drew Keszei & now Morgan Ellison. Doesn't guarantee them any success but it appears the level of raw athleticism is going a considerable notch upwards. Good stuff.

It seems to me that our recruiting has stepped up a notch or two in the last couple of years. Just look at how many freshman and sophomores are contributing to our success so far this season. It may also account, in part, for the slow start as younger players need to gain game experience to reach potential.

This is turning into a Casper type of class. It's small so far, but it's nothing but 3-star players.

Now we are winning in the living room, great QB's and a great running back coming in. Our wide receiver stash is decent. Lets go Cats

Averaged 8 yds per carry against a predominantly big school schedule that included several playoff teams...

From 247Sports.com...

Pickerington (Ohio) Central 2017 running back Morgan Ellison committed to the in-state Bobcats Thursday, becoming one of the top prospects to verbal to a MAC program this recruiting cycle.

247Sports ranks the 6-foot-1, 221-pound Ellison as the nation's No. 24 running back and No. 19 recruit in the state of Ohio.

Ellison emerged back in the spring as a prospect to know, showcasing great athleticism and the ability to move and catch the football in camps after injuries derailed him in the fall of his sophomore and junior seasons. Ellison's Nike Football Rating of 131.19 at the The Opening Regional in Ohio was tops on the day. He ran a 4.69 laser-timed 40-yard dash with a very impressive 4.0 shuttle.

This fall Ellison has rushed for 1,239 yards and 17 touchdowns continuing to show he's healthy and capable.

Ohio State, Nebraska and Indiana are some of the schools that have Ellison on the radar.

Morgan scored on runs of 2 and 6 yards and added a 44 yard TD pass reception in Pick Central's first round playoff win over Springfield Friday nite...

"In the meantime, he's going to keep putting up big numbers this summer. On Saturday he was laser-timed at 4.69 seconds in the 40-yard dash, had a four-second 20-yard shuttle and a 35.6-inch vertical leap.

That vertical was better than Ezekiel Elliott's at the NFL Combine. His SPARQ score of 131.19 is comparable to Derrick Henry's 132.7 at the combine. That's not to compare Ellison to two of the best college running backs in the country last year, because there's more to it than numbers. But it is to show what kind of athlete Ellison is."

He will improve his 40, he just needs to get in the 4.5-4,55 range and Ohio's strength program took Lavon from a 4.7 to a 4.4. AJ improved two tenths, we know how hard he works.

Yeah I'm not worried about the 40 time. I was more pointing out the other names in that quote" Nice company to be mentioned with.

And the nice thing is he can redshirt next year as AJ, Papi, Dorian and Maleek return. The thing is...we only lose Dorian after next year, making for an excitingly full backfield but with Papi more in the slot and used more as a receiver he really shouldn't be considered an RB anymore. I love this pickup though. Pick Central has a nice program.

I was thinking the very same thing. With this player's "measurables", it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see a P5 team swoop in and take him. Time will tell.
