No need to mischaracterize anything I said. Nothing I wrote was "spiteful," just pointing out a risk, one that I'm certain the coaching staff will consider. If he's as good as some people on this board seem to think, he may be ready to back up at QB as a true frosh. It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds.
I'm sorry to mischaracterize, and 'spiteful' is strong, I just don't get the thought of wasting a year rather than redshirting. If he's not going to play either way, the advantage is to redshirt. It provides that fourth year that would have significant value. I wish we had four years of Rourke rather than just three.
I also think that the idea of a starting QB at a smaller school graduating and going to a bigger school is not too likely. Sure, there's maybe a case or two, but I think the more likely grad transfers come from backups at big schools looking to start. I don't think too many elite DI schools would want a one year hire when they likely have big-time recruits coming in every year.
