The Hudl video is impressive. If he is 4.76 on the watch, he is one of those who gets faster with pads on. Tommie Frazier was another.

I don't know. He clearly didn't have the kind of speed Papi showed, but, does he need that? He has good awareness on the field, and gets open, and he catches the ball, even in traffic. His QB didn't do him a lot of favors on some of those throws, just threw it up for grabs, and Herman went up and took it from the DB.

When it comes to receivers, there are more than one type. You have speedy ones like Cochran. You have possession receivers like Waters or Dunlop. Walker can fill the speed job, and Brunis or Meyer can be the possession receiver. Sure it's great when you get both in one package, like Brazill, but those don't come along every day.

He does a lot of things right on film.

Something must be up though...given how many D1 schools are in state, lots of teams must have kicked the tires and decided against it.

From the video it seems like he has a lot of good attributes. His timing looks very good when he goes up for the ball. He often catches it at its highest point. Like others had mentioned, he saved his quarterback often by coming back to the ball and catching balls thrown behind him.

Might just be another example of the Ohio staff out-recruiting the other guys buy hanging in there on a good kid that took a little longer to put it all together. Hard work + Dedication = Ohio Staff

Wonderfully intelligent remark, bcat2.  Just what we expect from you:  Hiding behind a pseudonym, you generally trash me while not responding to an obviously legit point (if we keep recruiting best in MAC, why no best in MAC performance). Why do you even post if you're going to absolutely fail to engage in any reasonable debate or show any ability to consider for even a second that the coaches and team are not perfect.  

Monroe. You generally trash the football program. Your point about recruiting talent has been asked and answered over and over. True things have not fallen just right for you to have your precious MACC, but, to deny Ohio has/is recruiting well and that Ohio players are talented is something with which many here can not go along. Monroe, consider players in the NFL. From the MAC Toledo is first and Ohio is second. I propose this is a stronger argument for Ohio's talent than your MACC point against Ohio's talent. Again, we have been here before.

I don't know why I interject here as I know better, but Monroe do you ever stop and think why you in particular are almost always involved in the petty back and forth on the board? Just as you tire of reading Bcat2's opinion and all the other "apologists" take, a lot of the other people here tire of reading yours which leads to backlash against you whether it be warranted or not. I don't personally disagree with all of the stuff you say when I can make sense of it, but good lord man I get tired of seeing it. Familiarity breeds contempt and you seem to have brought many to that point. I do appreciate your passion for OUr Bobcats but wish the intensity of it was focused on less frequent, more informed/informative posts.

The pseudonym thing has never really bothered me (my name is Devon Poling and is in my profile) as all information put on here should be taken with a grain of salt. Signing up under a full name doesn't really prove anything in this space without some validation of the name. We've seen plenty of false names over the years.

Allen, as for 40 times, it's the most abused stat out there and it's useless unless it's verified and electronically timed. I don't know which Brunis' is, but if he is truly 4.7 that won't hold him back from getting open if his routes are fundamentally sound. There have been very successful wide receivers at this level and the next who run a 4.7 40 or worse and not just the really tall guys.

Everyone wants better recruits which in turn we hope produces better results. I find it hard to criticize recruiting choices until it's all played out on the field. It's certainly easier to get excited about landing the heralded recruit versus the under the radar guy, however, once they step foot on campus the rating systems don't mean a thing. The only meaningful rating will be what they contributed in their time at Ohio. A 4 star guy who gets the boot in his first year is much worse than a 4 year unrated scholarship player who only contributes on special teams.

I'm guessing it's the height and weight.  You may recall that Cochran came in at 155 and did not have a ton of offers outside the mac.    Schools are unwilling to take chances.. Fortunately for us they did with Cochran who is now playing at 190ish or more and comments are that he has gotten faster even with the 30 plus pounds.
