A banger named Cannon. I love it.

(I assume Cannon is a nickname. If it isn't, I propose he be dubbed "Blaster".)

I don't know much about this dude but if he plays anything like his name he'll put opponents on blast. Sweet name.

Wow.....this class just keeps getting better and better.

Albeit a small class this year....but quality over quantity.

So true. What I'm about to say is a total guess but it is interesting if our recent NFL draft success is having an impact here: may be wrong but I can't recall getting higher-ranked DLs and LBs per 247 sports than we had since Basham, Brown, and Poling were drafted. L.C., your theory of 247 sports rating inflation is noted and may be at work here but this seems position-specific to recently-drafted positions?

I am sure the draft success is part of it, but I'm equally sure that Ron Collins is part of it. He is clearly an excellent linebacker coach, and Ohio is lucky to have him. He was a defensive coordinator at Colorado for 5 years and Boise State for 4 years, before settling in Athens. Some of the linebackers he has coached:
Noah Keller
Jelani Woseley
Keith Moore
Alphonso Lewis
Ben Russell
Jovon Johnson
Quinton Poling
Blair Brown
Chad Moore

There are a few position where I never worry about whether Ohio will be strong, because I know that every year they will be good. LB is one of those.

nice list and true. That much success includes the position coach. The shot i'd call is that at least one of the following two get added to that list: Connor or Dorsa.

That list is a complete list of the starters he's had, and there's not a bad one in the bunch, so there will definitely be three more to add after this year, and whoever they are, I have no doubt they will be good, too. Conner (SLB) and Crouth (MLB) will probably be two that are added to that list. Who else? Guillet or Popp, most likely. We could be surprised, though. Russell and Poling were both surprise starters, as I recall. Someone like TJ Robinson or Keye Thompson could end up moving to the top, for all I know.

Getting back to Blauser, that's it, exactly. He's quick.

Usually players have to remain disciplined, stay with their man or in their zone. Best practice usually. A few can earn coaches trust to freelance. Tremayne Scott in the Independence Bowl, Blair Brown and Poling would on occasion see/feel/know what was coming and just last moment shift into the gap to eat the play up. Seems Mr. Blauser has been turned loose. One man, " find the ball, get the ball." Like that a lot.

Are we sure he didnt go to Polamolu High School or something? His ability to redirect is absolutely phenomenal. Hopefully he is sold on our recent success of linebackers and sticks to his commitment. He definitely can play P5.

Arkley runs articles about recruits and lack of respect Ohio recruits receive from the media and omits Mr. Blauser. Though, to this point, Ted has not added him as a commit?????

Edit. Arkley article on recruits now includes nice mention of Blauser.

The Dispatch/This Week Newspapers football tab notes that Cannon was OCC Cardinal defensive POY last year, and lists him as one of ten Central Ohio seniors to watch this season.

This top 10 table supplemented an article on central Ohio's top players this coming season and included any college choices players have made as well as offers for other players. Interestingly, the article mentions that Pick North LB Ben Johnson has committed to Miami while he's listed as an Ohio commit in the "2019 Ohio Football Commits" thread on BA:

One player of interest in the article, and I don't think I've seen his name on BA, is Mifflin WR/TE Aman Thornton. His dad and coach at Mifflin is former Ohio QB Anthony Thornton. Wondering if Ohio has shown any interest.

The article's writer labeled Blauser as one of the area's top returning impact players. I hope he signs in the early period.

I looked at Johnson's Twitter page, and he does show the Miami logo, along with the note that was his first offer, but the twitter feed itself makes it clear that he accepted Ohio.

There is another recruit from Pickerington North, Tyler Foster. I am assuming they are close, making Ohio a better fit for both. I may be wrong, though, it seems reasonable to me.
