Are these Ohio's best ever?

Jon Lechner 8.0
Grant Venham 7.9
Ben Russell 7.8
Denzel Daxon 78
Xavier Hughes 7.7
Jake Schany 7.7
Jeff Christian 7.7
Antwan Crutcher 7.7
Justin Wyatt 7.6
Michael Farkus 7.6
Marcus Coleman 7.6
Bakari Bussey 7.5
James Davis 7.5
Robbie Walker 7.5
Louis Zervos 7.5
TJ Robinson 7.5
Marcus O'Hara 7.4
Blake Jones 7.4
Greg Windham 7.4
John Tanner 7.4
Tristian Vandenberg 7.4

There are some good players on this list, but also more than a few that just didn't work out. Remember not to take the recruiting rankings too seriously.

Great point well made. It is clearly hit and miss when it comes to the rankings. Look at some of Ohio's greatest players over the last decade and it is easy to see a ton of misses too. Among the ESPN 'NON-Rated' were Tarell Basham, Nathan Rourke, Papi White, Quentin Poling, Tremayne Scott, Chad Moore. Among the recruits not even making the NON-Rated list, aj ouellette, Bradd Ellis, etc.

There are too many recruits to track and none of this seems to measure the amount of heart a dude has, even with 4/5 star recruits. Where Bradd Ellis started to where he finished is about as respectable as it gets. Ellis willed his FBS career to happen and made a ton of big plays his last year.

Off the subject a bit but when it comes to watching college football for me there is a special place for dudes like Ellis, DL Knock, Ouellette, etc. They did something no one thought they would be doing and did it well.

There is no question that their ratings for the 4 and 5 star recruits are accurate, but there are a lot less of them, and they spend a lot more time evaluating them.

Isn't Vandenburgh a walk-on? I'm not saying he isn't good, it just seems odd that he would be ranked that high (even as a kicker) and not have a scholarship somewhere.

He's either a preferred walkon, or a grayshirt, I'm not sure, and the same was true of Venham, Farakas and Zervos.

Lots of schools only give scholarships to specialist after they earn the starting spot. Common practice

While I don't think a high recruiting grade out of HS is a lock to becoming all MAC I do think if you look at the list above to they should be at least a contributor on the 2 deep which in of itself is significant. Irons is an example of guy who had mega potential, never became all MAC because of circumstances but was drafted by the CFL. A guy like Daxon either he's going to be good or he's going to be an all MAC player.
