Nice article on RB A.J. Ouellette who is at Ohio as a preferred walk-on.

This kid is going to get a scholarship someday. Frank loves doing that for walk-ons who bust butts. Looks like Beau, v 2.0.

Because they keep giving scholarships to walkons, Ohio's walkon program just seems to get stronger every year. Keep in mind that he may or may not end up at RB. It is very common for high school running backs to move to another position in college, such as linebacker or Safety.  If he's as hard a worker as the article indicates, there will be opportunities for him to get onto the field, though.

I really don't understand what us going on when a guy like this doesn't get a schollie someplace. Truly amazing to me.

Quote from same:
"He is 5-10, 195 pounds of solid muscle, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds (with a tweaked hamstring), bench presses 460 pounds and has a 35 inch vertical leap."

Do you suppose the 460 bench is a misprint?

So Ironcat, coming in with a publicized 460 bench, how long will it be before someone says "show me"? Me, I am hoping the coaches don't allow it.

I like the attitude, glad to have Ou at OU.

I can't remember his name but wasn't there an 'under-sized' running back OUt of Cleveland some good number of years back who went to a traditional power and set records?

Wait, so he throws shot AND sprints?

Yeah, this guy is too much of an athlete not to find his way onto the field....maybe RB, maybe defense, maybe special teams.

so his choice of programs to walk on to came down to OU and EMU? lordhavemercy what kind of sadist pays his own way to play for the Eagles? glad he made the right choice.

You'd think his chances of playing immediately there are better. On the other hand, his chances of winning are immensely better at Ohio, and probably his chances of a scholarship, too, since Ohio routinely does that.

He looks very impressive on film.  Covington is Division VII. The school who knocked them out of the playoffs, Marion Local, beat Trimble for the State Championship.  I hope he gets a chance during his four years in Athens.  I love it when the small school guys get to shine.

Ohio is so much more a safer bet to earn a scholarship after a year or two with Franks track record of converting guys over. EMUs coach might not last a year or two once the losses pile up on the parking lot.

He actually benches a true 425lbs. The 460 must be a mis print. You won't find a harder worker.

Then he picked the best place for a shot to get on the field. Frank will use him someplace even if he never carries the ball which who knows he might develop but I see him as a special teams demon after a Red-Shirt year! Good luck to him

It could be a situation like Blake Scipio, where he bounced around from defense to offense and back to defense, but his hard work won him playing time (and a scholarship). In the end he landed as the #2 nickle back. I have no idea where Ouellette will end up, but as a hard worker with athletic ability, I'm sure he'll find some way onto the field. For now he seems to be at running back, and Albin had some praise for him in today's article.

AJ’s 460 bench is legit - saw it in person when he was working out with former NFL Player and personal trainer Tramain Hall at Enhance U Sports Performance Academy earlier this summer. The 425 bench is what he did during his senior season of high school football and that's the weight reflected on his recruiting profile. ( http://www.gobuccs.com/aj/ )
