Random thoughts come to me whole walking sometimes (insert joke here).
Anyway, I was thinking about this situation this morning. No matter what happens with Coach Solich and his next contract, there HAS to be some sort of discussion between Solich and perspective new recruits about a succession plan, doesn't there?
I don't foresee Solich coaching any longer than the next 3 years, 4 tops. Bill Snyder at Kansas State retired at 78 and I believe Solich is 75 now. So assuming most perspective recruits are looking at playing at Ohio for 5 years (4 years plus the redshirt), they must be asking Solich how much longer he's coaching and what will happen at Ohio when he retires. Heck, in the cutthroat world of recruiting I have to imagine other MAC coaches are telling perspective recruits "Well, Coach Solich is a great guy and coach, but you know at the age of 75 there's no way he'll be the coach there for your entire time at Ohio, so why would you go there?" or something along those lines.
So I have to wonder how Solich and his staff are addressing that situation.
