This kid committed to Michigan State and was just listed as getting interest from Miss State..is there any real chance he arrives on Campus in the Fall?

Video of Shakari looks impressive. I am always especially interested in your evaluations ExCat21 since you are a former player. A “Football Shak of the MAC” perhaps? I know, not a “q”. Still works. :)

I was reading a story about Super Bowl participants by conference. The MAC was sixth of the conferences, with eight listed, and ranked ahead of the Big 12, AAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt. I know Fisher didn’t play, nor did Javon, but even without them the MAC was sixth. I think we sometimes underestimate how willing top recruits (High 3s & up for lack of a better measurement) might be to go to the MAC. Recruiting staff can certainly site some evidence of further success.

Taking this a step further, this year's super bowl proved that you don't have to be a blue-chip recruit (4 or 5 stars) to make it to the big game. Of this year's starters, more than half were not blue-chip recruits:

4 were 5 stars; 16 were 4 stars; 14 were 3 stars; and 11 were 2 stars or unrated.

Also of note, Ohio State did not have one player in the game and I don’t believe Alabama did either, although I understand they had a player in a similar situation as Javon (back and forth between practice squad and game day roster). Not sure what happened in his case. FCS was well represented too and there was a Canadian college or two in there also.

That is true most every year. Couple truths to that though, the better teams inline for a deep playoff run are not dealing with a top pick in the draft. They have to look for value and player.

Did we forget Western Michigan (13-0) in the Cotton Bowl in 2017 vs Wisconsin?

Yes, it takes a perfect season and some hype (prob some preseason top 25 votes) to realistically get there.

Maybe not 24-0, but you get what I mean. UCF had a perfect season, got no love and then beat Auburn the following year. But WMU is definitely the example.
