"Ohio Univ." on the scoreboard? Screw them. If they do come to Athens in two years, I would like to ensure that they get a Univ. Cincy on our scoreboard. even ohio state gets this part right. Weird made-up logos on pre-game literature, No respect from them or their athletic department. Again, screw them.
THIS and then some!
Is the media/all athletic management that concerned/worried that someone is going to be misled that OHIO STATE is going to be the opponent for something?
This will make you frustrated:
https://gobearcats.com/schedule.aspx?path=football Oh I guess the big Bobcat head next to the name suggests Buckeyes? Tulane/Temple on and on don't have to have university added on.
So much of the media coverage for the game leading up, during and after was overkill with "Ohio University," "Ohio U." etc. here in the area. But not just Ohio.
I am going to guess at one time "Ohio U." was used very commonly colloquially and it's a bad habit that dies hard? It seems like every other school can just be called by their darn single name-why not us? Is there really that many people who will think it's Ohio State? And if there is, tough. You will find out it's not if you read the story/article etc.
I did find this interesting. Tom Groeschen, the Enquirer's beat writer, did a live update article for the game and called us everything but "Ohio."

He did more of a postgame "Things we learned" story and then used just "Ohio" frequently. But still a lot of OU and Ohio U.s. It's not as annoying if they do it for both schools.

I am tempted to email him an electronic version of our media guide, and cite page 2:
OHIO, PLEASE
When referring to the Bobcats, please use Ohio. Ohio
University is acceptable when using other institutions’ full
names. Please do not use Ohio U. or OU. Thank you
