Funny, I thought this was a staff of fast learners. After the Troy debacle they changed the offense. Well, Why not copy an Ohio State or an Alabama instead? I think you learn a lot by watching successful teams. You may not have their personnel but typically you are not playing their opponents. See my comments in the play calling topic to see some creative things even Alabama did that led to scores from inside the 20 and on the goal line vs A&M.

I am not sure what to say about the Defense. Other than it is on track to be the worst in the Solich era...

Maybe because those teams have the talent to run what they run. You surely do not believe you can just plug OHIO players into Bama or OSU’s scheme and be successful?

And again, the O is producing, but needs to clean up the execution and things will be fine.

While that Troy "learning experience" was refreshing, it was quite a long time ago. 2010 (applied to the 2011 season) to be exact. Does Troy even use that offense, now? A couple of complete cycles of players have come and gone.

I think that if the results were more enjoyable/successful there would not be the scrutiny/analysis (insert Captain Obvious joke, here). Some of this is certainly execution, but you also have to call the right play for the right situation. For hardcore Bobcat fans, the second and goal call will fester indefinitely.

When there is a similar trend of failure when the opportunity for scoring/victory is at hand, it becomes increasingly difficult to swallow.

If, say in another game this year, the Cats have second and goal from the one and they run a play with a high likelihood of success (a QB sneak, for example) and don't score, I will be more frustrated with the players execution than the coaches scheme. But will also be satisfied in knowing that "hey, at least the coaches are applying a lesson they learned!"

Funny, Excat21 states that the offense scores 30 and that’s enough, but you ignore him. Score 30ppg, the offense is not your problem. And the defense will come along. We are scoring 30 ppl with subpar talent that has worked hard and produced points. You people act like this team is horrid just because they went 1-2 so far.

Ohio averages 33 ppg (not sure what ppl means? Points per loss?)

That's 57th in FBS ... out of 130.

That's just above average .. which is right.

This isn't 1987 football. Nearly half the teams in the country average 30 points per game. 68 to be exact.

While you'd think that would be enough to win games ... it isn't when your defense is allowing 37 ppg.

When Ohio needed the offense to bail out it's awful defense ... they couldn't do it.

When UVa needed 1 TD to finish off Ohio they came up with one. Bobcats couldn't do that Saturday.

Being 1-2 isn't horrid. Leaving a win on the table because you can't score from 1-inch line is horrid. Barely beating a below-average FCS team is horrid. Getting down 35-7 in only 25 plays is horrid. Having one of FBS worst defenses is horrid.

And having an offense 57th in scoring, 78th in yards per game & 70th in offensive efficiency isn't exactly something to boast about.

For the record ... Ohio is 129th out of 130 in defensive efficiency. Overall Ohio is 114th most efficient team in FBS. Now that's horrid.

News flash-we avg 30+ per game...Sat we should have had 37 end of story. We didn't and that is on coaches and players.

Amazing thing is three plays cost us a win. Papi's fumble, the bomb to start half two and failure to score from 6" out. That is why the game was so disappointing.

Billy, seriously, we can't line three guys in the backfield and run a fake dive by the QB and have him keep the ball? Check out our score when everyone ran one way and Rourke was left with one defender to beat to the corner. He got there. And, seriously, my point is we SELDOM throw to the TE. You are telling me we can't fake a pitch to the RB and find a TE in the middle of the field who is able to catch the ball? These plays weren't difficult, they were just unexpected. AJUTM is not unexpected.
