I had just turned 3 in nearby Logan. I have always wondered if there was any buzz about the Bobcats in town. I guess I could search the Logan Daily News archives. Today there are mostly State fans.
I don't recall having any Ohio gear or being a fan as a little kid. I met a friend in the 7th grade whose dad had been an Ohio track runner. That's when I started paying attention.

Liked the MAC championship part.

Disliked the Tangerine Bowl result while eating pizza and drinking pitchers of beer at Gunther’s in Portsmouth.

My Freshman Year. Campus was beautiful even then but no tailgating or Fan Fare like today.

7 years old and received my first football that Christmas! I grew up dreaming to one day be part of the Ohio Football program, but fate took me on a different course. I was a ball boy though for Ohio during the mid-seventies. The best part being able to get free steamed hotdogs in the locker room after the game.

It was my senior year of HS and I had applied to Ohio (not sure if I had been accepted yet). I was aware of the Tangerine Bowl trip but not the rest of the season; we were only really aware of what was going on with the teams that got more exposure in Ohio's Great Northwest through the media. Unfortunately, the Bobcats weren't high on that list.

Was there with the 110. Many, many Ohio students made the trip to BG as it was the designated student travel game. I think the term was "student migration game". Is that right? When did that tradition die out? Sometime during the win drought days?

Great last minute victory + a great crowd + great weather = great memories!

I looked up 1968 highlights for fun, but there didn't seem to be much fun in 1968. Here are the top 8 moments of 1968, according to CNN:

1. January 23: North Korea captures the USS Pueblo (fascinating story I did not know about -- encourage you to read it)

2. January 30: North Vietnam launches the Tet Offensive against the United States and South Vietnam

3. April 4: Martin Luther King Jr. assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee

4. June 5: Robert F. Kennedy assassinated in Los Angeles

5. September 30: Boeing introduces the first 747 "Jumbo Jet"

6. October 16: U.S. athletes take a stand at the Summer Olympics

7. November 22: "Star Trek" airs American television's first interracial kiss (another interesting story I wasn't aware of)

8. December 24: Apollo 8 is the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon

Fleetwood Mac
I'd disagree about them being that popular.

At that time,Fleetwood Mac consisted of,I believe:Mick Fleetwood,Peter Green,Jeremy Specner and John McVie.

They really didn't become "popular" until they got Christie McVie,Stevie Nicks and
Lindsey Buckingham.

It really wasn't until the Rumors album that they became big.

I remember it well - well, as much as I can from 50 years ago. I was a junior, and a group of friends and I went to every away game. The energy / enthusiasm was great. I really enjoyed connecting with some of them last Saturday, too.

They may have been “not that popular” to some...but I had their album and Peter Green was great.

So we can at least say the music was better in 1968 than in 2018.

To be honest,I never heard of Fleetwood Mac until "Rumors".

Then I started listening to some of their early stuff and really liked it.

Same thing happened with a lot of people and Bruce.

I started listening to him from "Greetings" on.
Kind of a Jersey thing.

But,it was amazing how many people at that time thought Born to Run was his first album.

Slightly fuzzy here too, I was born the previous December in Bloomington so the Hoosiers were on my fuzzy radar, but not the Cats.

I checked, "Was there" because it was the closest alternative to my reality. I was a graduate student at A&M at the time, and I listened to every OHIO game on the radio, sometimes while watching A&M in their stadium with my transistor radio plugged into my ear. There was good coverage in Columbus at the time on some station, don't remember which one.

I think Richard "Dick" Schorr had just become the "Voice of the Bobcats" on the Ohio University football radio network. He was there I believe from 1967-1996. Back then the flagship station for the radio network was WOUB. He was a treat to listen to and a nice guy. I think he passed away in 2016.
