As reported by The Post. Hopefully a redshirt is possible.

I believe he played in four games so he should be able to get a redshirt this year.

Who are we going to have in the backfield other than Ross next year?

No, Irons redshirted his first year and so the year he missed to suspension is just a missed year he can't get back.

Also have R-So Ja'Vahri Portis according to the online roster. Still seems a little thin though

It seems to me we're going to need two running backs for next season. Julian Ross hasn't proven, or had the opportunity to prove, he can handle the starting back role. And we have no idea what true freshman O'Shaan Allison can do.

So it looks to me like we'll need two experienced guys, perhaps a JC and a grad student running back.

Might Allison get a few carries yet this season? He has four games to retain the redshirt...

I don’t see how Ohio doesn’t sign a transfer or juco RB here. None of the current guys are anywhere ready to see significant playing time. Ross included even if he was to miraculously immediately grab the starting role after coming off a shoulder surgery and sitting out Spring Ball there is no one thats played.

Check out the Football Recruiting Forum. Ohio just got a commitment from a 3-star running back out of Florida--Walter Wilbon. Ross, Allison Netherton and this guy could be the rotation for a few years. I think it is too late for a transfer and the JUCO thing is a real crap shoot. Although, sometimes you find a good QB playing for one.

C'mon, Bcat2. Crapshoot means a risky matter, some good results and some bad.

Your biased posts on here are no better than the posts you criticize for being negative all the time.

I'm glad I didn't write anything really stupid...like "walk-ons are crapshoots."

By the way, what ever happened to Kenny Ashley?

“Check out the recruiting forum”

Are you silly? NONE of them are remotely ready to run the Ball for Ohio. Ross ,Allison And a walkon with a handful of snaps. Mmmmokay crapshoot.

Would it be a good idea, then, to give Allison some game time over the next four games, still preserving his redshirt?

The "Check out the recruiting forum" was in reference to Wilbon. He seemed like as an impressive of a recruit as the Cats seem to get.

As for JUCO crapshoots, Rourke was an amazing pickup. However, I believe he was largely viewed as depth piece at the time. For every Rourke there are how many misses? I actually like the idea of the opportunistic JUCO pickup--MAC teams need to look for JUCOs and transfers to win. I'm just not sure if you can build around these guys (see Bowden, Terry).

Nothing stupid at all. They are a crap shoot. I just listed some from rosters back about six years. Better info from another source finds Solich era JUCOs number 35, his rating of them is; Good 16, OK 2, Fail 14, TBD 3. Again, not my ratings, but, source generally respected.
