Found this link on the NIU board:

"Irons is nursing an undefined injury and it is uncertain if he will be available against Northern Illinois on Saturday."

"Ross has an ankle injury and it is unclear if he will play Saturday against Northern Illinois."

"Rourke is dealing with a shoulder injury and it is unknown if he will suit up against Northern Illinois on Saturday."

Could be the first "raw" game of the season weather-wise -- gametime temp in the 40s, 50/50 chance of rain.

Not a good game to have strong runners out of the lineup...

I think Irons and Rourke will play. Ross has very tender ankle.

Northern Illinois has struggled offensively, especially passing, so that gives some hope that Ohio's defense can have a better performance. But the Huskies have been pretty good on defense.

That would be great news for Ohio if Rourke and Irons can play. Possibly two of Rourke's best games at Ohio in the last 2 weeks. Solich said tonite Ross is out. We can win it with Maxwell but Rourke gives us that dimension that could be a difference against a tough defense.

In the first four minutes of games this season we've been outscored 42-0: Howard 7-0; UVA 14-0; UMass 14-0; Kent 7-0.

All you do is whine and complain! Sorry this team can't meet your demands!

God forbid you post facts here.

I'll add on ... because I know Sam bobcat is reading this with smoke coming out of his ears, ha!

Ohio ranks #127 in the nation allowing 14 points per game in the 1st quarter

They also are 14th in the nation scoring 10.5 points per game in the 1st quarter.

If they ever get the defense figured out in the 1st quarter, they might be able to cobble together something.

In +3 for this. Can't wait for some fall weather, football, and a 2pt Bobcat WIN!

Looking at o and d is good way to size up the competition. NIU is coming at 17.6ppg (125th) and 23.7ppg (41st) on defense. That says to me they'll be a physical opponent and will need to beat us in the trenches to have a shot to win the game. What Ohio definitely cannot afford do this week is spot NIU 14 points in the first quarter and dig a hole for itself. Based on what we've seen from the bobcats the last few weeks the game is likely a toss up.

Soooo...you’re saying we should expect a career best days for NIU’s QB and 1-3 of their receivers?
(Joking, but also 100% serious)

Ohio defense is 5-for-5 in giving up a career day to WRs this season.

Why end the streak now!

Really hoping Joe Lowery can go. His replacement couldn’t handle Kent’s edge rusher so much so that I believe Joe Anderson was moved to tackle. Sutton Smith is a handful off the edge.

On point. Smith is a MAC POY caliber player. He must be accounted for. The kind of grown man you keep a TE and a RB available to help handle.

For those of you into alternative facts, we've outscored our opponents 184-137 over the last 56 minutes of games. A little something for everyone.

Frank's answer starting at 1:33 tells a lot. He is not happy.

I look for the defense to start from the beginning of the game this week, and play NIU tough. Ohio matches up well with NIU, and they always play NIU tough. I look for an Ohio win this week.

I wonder if anybody will say that Frank Solich is not a real fan because he is not happy. Doesn’t he realize that these are 18-22 year olds, he shouldn’t encourage them to play tougher.
Seriously, coach Solich knows the game and he has to figure out how to get the team off to a great start and play a full game. I am happy that he sees the problem, hopefully he can fix it.

My money is on Rourke playing. Lowery’s absence or possible absence is equally as concerning.
