Here's the list of teams that are in (48), that aren't in yet but are at .500 or better (32), and are out (24). The 16 teams at 4-5 or 4-6 are listed but not included among those likely to get in. This week the NCAA affirmed its bowl ban for Ole Miss this year, so it's now listed as out. Notre Dame can get a bowl that has a tie-in with the ACC and is included in the ACC's total. Hawaii plays 13 games, so they need to win seven for eligibility. Liberty is in a transition year, so they might need NCAA permission to be in a bowl.

Ole Miss--out. Since they are from Oxford is that the reason the other team from Oxford is out/not listed?

Many on here are more educated on this than I am.....

Isn't there some kind of provision/standard in place that a team won't play in the same bowl in consecutive years? Maybe it has just conveniently worked out that way?

The MAC seems to try not to have teams play in the same bowl in multiple years, but its not a solid rule

It's probably more like a gentlemen's agreement where all parties (bowl game, conference, team) all don't want it to happen, but certain circumstances could prevent it.
