All this and yet they just fired their coach for 9-16 the past two seasons. Brohm left to Purdue after those two CC. Mike Sanford, who should have been a great hire, former coordinator for Boise and Notre Dame, yet 9-16 and gone after two. Story we have all seen before.

I don't think that you can compare the rich football tradition of WKU with Ohio University, which, up until recently, was primarily a basketball and wrestling school. I think that Solich and Company have actually succeeded in turning Ohio into a football school, but only recently. Therefore, we lack the depth of support from outside that WKU has had over the years.

People forget that WKU's program was almost disbanded in the early nineties, but that a lot of Alunmi, including the legendary Jimmy Feix, rallied to help build financial support for the program in order to help save it. This was while Jack Harbaugh was coach, and his sons, Jim, while playing in the NFL, and John, while coaching Cincinnati, helped their father recruit some big time players such as Willie Taggart and numerous others.

With some patience, this program may end up cashing in on it's recent success with the hiring of the likes of future Offensive Coordinator, Joe Burrow, and future Defensive Coordinator, Mike Mitchell. The program might also benefit from the Nebraska pipeline and even the pipeline of the beast known as LSU to end up landing the likes of, say, some of Scott Frost's coaching staff and even Ed Orgeron and company should he or the administration down at LSU grow tired of all of the fan pressure down there in Louisiana. After all, we are connected by a series of rivers, you know.

The last paragraph is all pie in the sky, of course; but, hopefully, makes the point that Ohio is just beginning to build a potential pipeline of support into Southeastern Ohio that will pay dividends for years to come.

The other point that I would like to make too is that Ohio High School players are recruited by teams all over the nation not to mention Ohio State and Michigan to the North, Notre Dame and Cincinnati to the West, WVU and Marshall to the South, and Pittsburgh and Penn State to the East. Not the same as being in the midst of what has traditionally been basketball schools.
