Interesting. Didn't exactly light it up in Tennessee. But did very well at John Carroll.

This is the guy I wanted for Ohio......this is a problem I think for the rest of the MAC in 3 years.

In fact, willing to bet a beer from Jackie O's that he gets a MAC Title before Solich does.

Wow with all of the university's woes, they seemed to have lucked out with this one. You get a guy with proven head coaching experience, who knows the area well, and the recruiting connections that go along with it.

Akron did not sign a single recruit Wednesday. He has lots of making up to do. A couple backed out and one went to Miami.

This is why universities hire search firms to find an under the radar fit.

A revived Akron program would be good for the MAC. Their facilities and proximity to the Cleveland media are untapped resources that could elevate their program.
It would be fun to have a late season game in Akron with that stadium full of Ohio and Akron fans.
Unfortunately lots of Akron fans wear Ohio State gear to their home games.
New coach has his work cut out for him.

Akron will never support the Zips. Just a fact. This is an Ohio State, high school and Browns town. You can promote all you want but you'll rarely get more than 6-7K actual butts in seats. But St. Vincent/St. Mary vs. Hoban? Twice that if not more.

This is probably good for Arth to get into a D1 program and earn a bigger paycheck. I wonder what his contact says?
Even if he achieves a .500 record it's a win for the school.

.500 record. At Akron, not achieved by any of the five coaches since 1985. Gerry Faust, 43-53-3, came the closest. Terry Bowden, 175-114 overall, could only produce 31-44 at Akron.
