According to Arkley's blog, Drew is moving from QB to WR. He was highly touted coming in at QB, but will now be changing positions. Makes me think the staff has quite a lot of confidence in either Mischler or the younger Rourke.

Any idea where Maxwell has landed this year?

Why do I think Mischler vs. Rourke, Jr. will be a fascinating battle in the coming years? If both can stay healthy, seems like Ohio's set for the next few years at QB.

Obviously at least one QB from the list (Mischler, Rourke, Jr, and Yates) has passed him, and perhaps more than one. It's also obvious that they think he has a chance to help the team at WR. He's an athlete, and mostly likely can help the team somewhere.

Interestingly, Ohio has now lost 3 QB's this year, Maxwell, Duckworth, and Keszei. They still have four, and I'd say they still have better depth than during any time under Gdowski.

For completely selfish reasons alone, I was happy to see this news because I had first brought up the idea of a QB switching to WR on the roster thread. :P

But, I really think this could be a very good thing for the team. Drew is a pretty strong runner so I think he'll be able to pick up a lot of YAC yards and could develop into a new possession receiver for us with his knowledge of the offense. He could also run running plays out of the back field and is an accurate passer so that also opens up the playbook for trick plays. I really like this move. I think it will open up the ways our offense can threaten opposing teams.

Return of the option pass from the receiver? I haven't seen a good one since the MAC championship vs CMU. Who was that, Riley who could toss them?

Hey, in the pros there is only one QB on a team in the game if healthy, receivers 4-7 get playing time. Slightly easier to be a Julian Edleman than an NFL QB.

Good to see this kid wants to get on the field and not take his ball and transfer somewhere.

Ohio has had a one or more former high school QBs playing WR every year recently. There are probably others that I have missed, but here are the ones I know of:
2019 - Keszei, Minter, Edwards
2018 - Meyer, Minter, Cherry, Edwards
2017 - Cope, Meyer, Minter, Cherry, Edwards (Cope 1-1 for 3 yard TD, Meyer 1-1-15, both to Rourke)
2016 - Cope, Meyer
2015 - Cope (Cope 0-1, I think this was the one where Sprague was injured)
2014 - Cope
2013 - Dovell (Dovell 0-1)
2012 - Dovell (L. Smith 1-1, 39 yds, TD, M. Waters 2-2, 7 yds)
2011 - Dovell
2010 - Dovell (Dunlop 1-1, 2 yards, TD)

All together, over 9 years, the receivers are 6-8 for 66 yards and 3 TDs. That would be a pass efficiency of 268. It's been mostly effective when used, but still not a big part of the offense.


While not a WR, Jordan Thompson as a TE played QB and LB at Parkway high school.
