I did look up Rutgers football and their coach is Chris Ash, and this year will be his fourth year, and last year he was 1-11. From just a quick glance, I'd say that it seems very possible he is on his final year, and it also seems possible that someone might have believed that he wouldn't even make it to 2019.
Based on a pretty easy schedule, there was a lot of optimism on the part of Rutgers fans that they would be at least .500 and go to bowl.
That feel apart fast.
Most of the RU fans I know would like Ash gone.
Problems are:
1.The cost of a buy out.
(RU has the lowest revenue of any B1G team, with no prospects for improvement)
2.Except for wrestling,RU sports have virtually no fan support, outside of some die hards.
3.RU can't recruit well in NJ,let alone the rest of the US
All of this resulted in keeping Ash.
People aren't exactly knocking down RU's door to come there.
Even Schiano isn't interested in coming back.
(Lighting only strikes once)
Most likely nothing will change until Ash's contract ends.
