Cuse fan here. Always wanted to catch a game at Ohio now I'll have my chance.

A little background on why the guarantee game turned into a home and home. The Carrier Dome is starting a long term renovation this year. A new hard roof, lighting and scoreboard improvements will happen in '19-'20. In '21-'22 concession, seating and concourse improvements will happen. Air Conditioning is the unknown right now. I have heard it could by done by '20 but it might be delayed by a year or two.

So Syracuse is making a concerted effort to start on the road the first couple weeks the next few seasons to buy more good weather construction time.

The most critical year is 2020. The exoskeleton will be built around the existing Dome in 2019 and the roof will redone in 2020 with new beams and hard roof. The Football and Basketball teams will continue to play throughout the construction so construction is limited to April to early September.

Hopefully some of you can make the drive up to Cuse in 2024.

Here is a link to the Cuse Board discussing this series. https://syracusefan.com/threads/schedule-alert-ohio-in-20... /

Thanks for the info. Good timing for us I guess. Found a replacement for the original money game with Penn State then was able to move the home game with Cincinnati back to 2026 a date some think they may be in the Big 12. Syracuse I believe will be the first time we've had an ACC school in Peden Stadium but we've had Pitt back in 2005 while they were in the Big East.

Be careful. We're Ohio University of the MAC and located in Athens. Sometimes confused with Ohio State University of the Big 10 and Columbus.

You wouldn't be the first New Yorker (if in fact you are originally from the Empire State and now living in Texas) to make the mistake. A buddy of ours from freshman year was from New York City and thought he would be watching Art Schlichter and the Buckeyes his first year as a student at Ohio University.

From Syracuse originally and I recently moved from TX to FL. I was a navigator in the USAF and should be able to make my way to Athens. If not I'll turn in my wings.

What section do they put the visiting team's fans in? I'd expect we'll have at least 1000 fans there.

A. Welcome to board TexanMark! Love the 2nd part of your name.
B. 1000 fans, really? It’s a good 8 hour drive from Syracuse to Athens. 1000 people will make that trip? If so, they travel well.

Hard to say...we had 750 at WMU last Labor Day weekend. We had 20k to our bowl game in Orlando last December. We travel 2-5K to most ACC locales. I'll sponsor a ticket buy and host a tailgate for 100 Cuse fans I figure. This depends on how easy Ohio AD is to work group rates, etc...

I think 1000 is a pretty decent guess but Labor Day weekend is hard to predict being the last weekend of summer.

Welcome to the board, TexanMark.

It would not surprise me if Syracuse has a strong crowd present. Not all have to drive from NY....they have decent alumni numbers within 250 miles of Athens. I have a friend from here in Jackson who recently graduated from Syracuse.

The fans and folks in Syracuse won't want me coming in 2024 or any other time. I have been to Syracuse to spend a night or two on five different occasions and each morning woke up to 6 inches of white stuff on the car.

But, going to a game there by working one's way through the Finger Lakes will be a delightful trip for all the other Bobcat Fans!

No worries. The city doesn't usually receive its first snow until November. Not only visit the Finger Lakes but Niagara Falls and Cooperstown ought to be on everyone's short list.

I really like Dino Babers. He seems like "one of the good guys" out there in coaching. Will be interesting to see how long Syracuse can hold on to him.

To answer your question, sections 109-112 are traditionally the visitor sections.

Peden Stadium is overdue for a renovation like the Carrier Dome is getting, but this upcoming season we're opening an Academic Center building located in the endzone right next to the visitor sections which should help the restroom and concessions situation some.

I can't make any promises you'll enjoy our stadium, but I personally guarantee you will love the town of Athens. It's "the" most beautiful college town in the state.

This made me chuckle considering they play in the Carrier Dome of all places. I'm sure there are all kinds of hurdles/headaches involved.

Welcome and definitely quells my issues on whether you guys are going to come or not.....

As to working with the athletic dept, it shouldn't be a problem on getting group tickets and will be one of your favorite trips you'll make. Especially as the craft beer industry in Athens continues to grow, making a weekend out of it I would say has converted me over in time as the best road trip in the MAC and if we had more hotels in town I would argue the best in the midwest. Only part I say would stink for you guys is you're not going to be catching Athens as the leaves change.

Unlike most home-and-home series between P5 and G5 teams, the P5 team usually hosts the first game, which can keep the return game in limbo. That doesn't apply here since Ohio will actually host the first game. That is the key to this series playing out. And it will.

He is...he gets it.

BTW, he signed an extension last Fall and we are hoping he retires as the Cuse Coach.
