New OC Mark Whipple is opening up the offense: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2019/04/13/pa... /

Another 58-50 game?

Or a dismal performance and crushing loss for Pitt. Pitt was not real good as it was, to open things up you need talent to open things up. Pitt's biggest downfall last year was a lack of talent.

That's a nice thought, but Whipple had terrible Umass teams that always found a way to put up a crapton of points on us, even if not enough to win. What will he do with ACC talent, even if not top of the conf level?

They may have, however he recruited that type of athlete for that offense. Not sure he has that type of offensive talent yet at Pitt.

Whipple had Isabella at UMass. And Isabella will be drafted by the Patriots this weekend. I just have a gut feeling that will happen. He is really an explosive WR.

I know the Ohio program doesn't have a completely squeaky clean history over its entire history (criminal behavior etc.) but there is something about not being at the top of the pecking order of D1 football (and linked to things like what the above article is about) that makes our operation feel more like what I think college sports were originally intended to be. But perhaps I am just naive.
