NIU going to kentucky and notre dame this year and getting 1.4 mil each!

Why do we seem to command smaller buyouts than our MAC brethren? What kind of money are we getting from Pitt in lieu of a return game? Seems like we never approach such numbers.

I'm not surprised Notre Dame can offer that much, but UK is a bit of a surprise.

I'm not surprised either of them can pay that much or more, it just seems that we are consistently getting numbers that are less than our peers. Are we not good at negotiating these things?

Some depend on what you negotiate, whether you get a home game in return, whether you keep your revenue from ticket sales, what hotels are built into the deal, etc. Lotta factors can either drive those up or down especially depending on if they tell you you gotta pay for everything in between.

Even things like do you bring your own officials can be a mid-five figure swing.

So in other words, depending on how the deal is struck, you may end up walking away with more cash up front from the host, but will end up having to pay more bills on your end? Versus maybe not getting as big of a check but not having as many bills to pay too?

Don't we often get home b-ball games instead of more money? I think that's why Purdue is at the Convo next season.

Wouldn't classify it as "often" but yes, that is why Purdue is coming.

I really can't think of another instance recently where that's happened?

Minnesota, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Kansas, Pitt, Virginia Tech, UVa ... none of those teams came to the Convo for a hoops game in the last 20 years.

It would be nice if it was more "often"

We did actually have a home game against UVA in hoops back in 2002-2003 season-and won!

Ha! Yes ... you are right. But I don't think that was part of the deal where Ohio would play UVa in football 16 years later in 2018.
