Here's a link to an article that my dad wrote on the 40th anniversary of Kent State (he was 79 in 2010 when he wrote this). If I could find a link to it on the Record-Courier website I'd include it. For now, FB will have to do.

Thanks for sharing that Alan. That was such a tumultuous time. I remember just a few days later Ohio University closed. I remember waiting for my parents to come pick me up. Sitting in Frishes with the smell of teargas still in the air. As i recall there was a National Guardsman deployed at every parking meter!
I wonder how the outcome would change if something like that happened today. No way soldiers would be shooting students.

We currently live in a country where the government has young children in cages and trailer holding centers. I would not put anything past them.

Wish I could agree. However, in certain situations, I'm not so sure.

There were National Guardsmen stationed uptown.

But if you look at the pictures, you could see that their weapons weren't loaded.

Chances are good your dad may have known my father-in-law, who lived in Kent for many years. Ran a local travel agency in town. My mother-in-law taught school in Ravenna.

Probably did. He pretty much knew everyone in town because his store was where they shopped. PM me their names and I'll ask him when I talk with him later this week.

You forgot golf and travel. And speaking of wine, for those of you who like a nice glass of Rose, this is the real deal. Had some last year and this year's as just good.
