I remember how another Bowers did at Ohio, Brad Bowers, not what was expected.

Bowers started and performed at a high level before his injury, Shane Morris was a bench warmer. I hope he is just ok next year.

Then there was Alex Malzone who transferred to Miami last year. His stats for last year were 0-4 passing, no rushes. Of course, he has another year, and he might have a good season this fall, so it's a little early to make a final determination on the success of his transfer.

Bower played well, but he seemed to have a weakness picking up linebackers underneath in zone coverage, and threw far too many easy picks. In two seasons at Ohio he threw 12 TDs, but 17 interceptions. Everson's ratio was actually worse, at 15 TDs and 24 interceptions, but I don't remember his being thrown directly to defensive players.

Exactly. It was just the passes where he simply didn't see the LB underneath and threw it right to him that drove people crazy.

18 TDs and 12 INTs, with a 59% completion percentage. Still not great but he did throw for over 3,000 yards, and he played against 4 ranked teams. And I believe he had an injury in his first game in 2018 so missed the rest of the year. So he would have 2 years to play if he gets his medical redshirt. They changed the offense to more of a running attack so he didn't really fit in anymore at Cal.

Though the point remains, most of the transfer QBs haven't done that well. We have kind of a low bar though, after the past couple years.
