Gotta disagree with you, rpbobcat, on the Jets. Oh, I agree with you on their recent past, but not on their future. They finally have a franchise-level QB (Sam Darnold), an offensive head coach who knows how to attack a defense, a crazed defensive coach who gets his guys to play with their hair on fire, a certified star on offense (Le'Veon Bell) and defense (C.J. Mosley, to go along with Jamal Adams), and a general manager who seems to know how to draft. Granted, they need a few pieces, but I do believe they're on the right track. There's minutes for Basham if, as he said, he can make some plays. Certainly hope so.

Gotta thank the Giants for giving Sam Darnold to the Jets. But I'm not one of those fans who say that mockingly. I would have taken Darnold in the draft if I had been the Giants' GM, but I was extremely high on Saquon Barkley back then and I love watching him play now. If Daniel Jones turns out to be the real deal, your Giants could come out of this in pretty good shape offensively, if they can get a better lineman or two.

So, rp, see you on Nov. 10th, when our two teams meet. By the way, I'm not a Giants hater. I'll be rooting for them, except for that game.

FlashGary:
I said I "hope" they continue to suck a lemon.

Personally,I don't think that will be the case.

I think Darnold may finally be the answer to their Q.B. woes.

I'm not sold on their Head Coach. He's a good O.C.
But, based on his performance at Miami, the jury is still out
on him as a H.C.

Same with their D.C.
He's not without controversy.

It will be interesting to see how they both handle the New York environment, especially if they start off slowly.

As far as why I feel the way I do about the Jets, where I grew up in northern N.J.,you were either a Giants or Jets fan.
I was kind of neutral, till Super Bowl III.
I never liked Namath.

I also didn't like that the Jets abandoned Long Island to move to N.J.
It got worse when they decided to tear down Giants Stadium,so they had a chance to move back "home" and didn't.

As far as the Giants, last year I wanted them to go for a Q.B..
But they made it clear that they weren't drafting one with their first pick.
So,I wanted Barkley,big time.
Watching him at PSU I figured he'd be a good fit, both on the field, and in the locker room.

No complaints so far.
I also won't miss Odel.

As far as the new Q.B.,have to see how it pans out.

What part of north Jersey are you from, rp? I'm originally from Summit. Grew up a Jets' fan in a town that was all Giants. The sports coaches and gym teachers couldn't stand Namath. I was a high school senior when the Jets won the Super Bowl. I was so convinced they would win that I didn't take the points in the few bets I made with other classmates; I took odds. Had the pleasure of being in the Yale Bowl for the first three or four Jets-Giants preseason games. What a spectacle!

By the way, I covered both the Jets and the Giants when I was a sports writer first for Newsday on Long Island and then the NY Daily News. The Giants coaches were Ray Handley, Ray Perkins and Parcells, who was fun to deal with. What a character. The Jets coaches were the just-late Walt Michaels, who I found to be a very nice man, Joe Walton, Bruce Coslet and Pete Carroll, who I thought was cool because he was really into the music of my favorite artist, James Brown.

I'm confident we'll get around to reviving this conversation prior to the match up this season. In the meantime, GO BOBCATS!!!

FlashGary:
I grew up,and still live,in Rochelle Park.
Rochelle Park is right next to Hackensack ,and about a 15 minute drive to MetLife.

My family were Giants Season ticket holders from when Giants Stadium opened, till last year.

We sat with the same families the whole time.

We made the move to Metlife, but none of them did.
Just didn't like the stadium or atmosphere,so we gave up the tickets.

As an aside, nothing can compare with seeing the 110 at the stadium, especially
for the first Giants home game after 9/11.
