As an unpaid intern while he pursues his master's. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/acc/2019/06/1... /

Interesting life change. Nice to see he has a strong drive for self improvement after stepping away from what he has known as primary employment for the bulk of his adult life. I know it's not for everybody, but there is a lot going on with Clemson football right now that would be fun to be a part of.

Enough time has probably passed that it is not as awkward as it would have been 10 or so years ago to be on staff where your brother was let go. Most of the admin has probably moved on, most notably the AD.

Found this article interesting: https://www.espn.com/college-football/news/story?id=3641028

The culture a coach creates (positive or negative) is so fascinating to me. Some coaches just have "it" while others do not. Sounds like the elder Bowden lost the locker room at the time of his separation. I also never knew that he had offered to resign vs. being straight terminated.

He coached in the MAC for several years. I think this is way more relevant than several other topics we see on the football board.

Agree as this topic is relevant to football compared to politics, vacation or other topics discussed on this website.

Better add an extra proctor or two to the final.

Because he is receiving no pay, the Zips are on the hook for another year's salary. Huzzah.

Now, beer, that's relevant to all Bobcat sports. Wine and golf are very peripheral. Beer is intrinsic.

If you go back far enough in the BA archives you'll find a whole thread devoted to the relationship between beer and Ohio athletics. Monroe, I believe, either started the thread or was a major participant.

Well, at least Akron has a bunch of extra cash to pay him.

I really, really hope it's in women's studies. Just to think about Terry Bowden showing up in a giant whooshy track suit to the first class.
