I think he was suggesting that such an aggressive schedule takes a toll on their roster, putting players on the injured list etc. that may result in losses down the road due to player availability.

It’s pretty clear he doesn’t understand how the standings work.
It's the quote, "going into MAC play" that made me think he believed that OOC games count in the standings.
