Active content management ... it's a lost art among sports bars. But that's a totally separate thread that could last for days.
Because I love thread drift....
This is something that is an art, while also not being all that complicated. The number of sports bars in the Columbus area that are able to pull it off is very, very small in number. And it DRIVES ME CRAZY when I go somewhere and they have 90% of their screens on the same game despite the fact that there are 15 sporting events on at the time. It's an incredible waste of screens and monthly DirecTV costs.
It's infuriating! And you are 1000% right it's an easy solution.
Bar/Restaurant Manager ... each day print out a sheet of paper with every game/time/channel on it. Put them at the bar or beside the TV controllers. It's not rocket science. It's just lazy and in the long run drives out business.
I was at a bar NHL opening night this season less than 1 mile from Nationwide Arena and the bar did NOT have the Blue Jackets game on. It had two TVs with NFL Divisional Rd playoffs on both of them. Pathetic.
I could go on for days about the ineptitude of most places.
I agree with the general comments on sports bars, when my wife and I have been traveling during football or basketball season, and have wanted to watch an OHIO game at sportsbar, we've found some of the employees to be dumber than dirt, with an attitude to match. I remember one place, where I had to the manager to get the OHIO game on a monitor near where we were sitting. The positive exception was TopGolf in Norfolk, Va. They put the game on two monitors near our table, so both my wife and I could see it well, and they did it quickly, seeming to know exactly what channel it was on and how to access it. The waitress then checked back with us every so often not only for additional beer and/or dessert orders, but she seemed somewhat interested in the score, and kind of got into it with us. This was one of our rout games with Rourke & Co. scoring 50+ points.
