Looks like after a nice week one Tupa is listed as doubtful with a shoulder. Speedy Recovery #20.
Wow! dude cannot catch a break. I loved to see him out there. Hope he is back soon

Really interesting contrast in defensive styles this week.
Pitt is very aggressive and the Bobcats are very passive.
There is always talk, like last week, about "wishing the Bobcats defense could get off the field quicker," but the bend-dont-break style of defense they run, particularly in the first half, lends itself to the what your are getting on the field--long opponent drives hoping you can get a third down stop.
Ohio did not have last year, and does not have this year so far, a four man rush that can get consistent pressure. Granted, URI had multiple holds on many offensive plays so the Dline rush could improve.
I understand some of the reasons why you'd play conservatively, especially with Ohio's offense seemingly able to score on every drive and the special teams being one of the best in the nation.
I think Ohio's defense have several playmakers who could make more splash plays without changing the defensive style significantly. Just let them loose a handful more times a game.

I don't see the game on the schedule on the ESPN app (?).
Go here:
https://www.espn.com/watch
/
Scroll down to the nude photo of Kelly O'Hara. When you're done ogling, scroll down to "Football Live and Upcoming," click on "see all" and scroll down to the first row of four games. We're there. If you click on the Ohio Pitt icon the ESPN+ logo comes up and it says "this event has not yet started." I hope it opens on Saturday, because on the schedule it's listed as ACCN with a lock on it, whatever that means.
I don’t think it’ll work?! I’m on an ESPN+ subscription and just tried to watch the William & Mary vs Virginia game, and it won’t let me since I am not subscribed to ACCNetwork. Crap!

I won't be able to watch it live, anyway, due to the game time. I'm hoping that after the game is over, I can watch a replay on ESPN+.

I'm visiting Athens with friends this weekend. Any thoughts on bars that will be showing the game?

I don't understand that. If you don't subscribe to a TV package that carries ESPN channels, it would be nice if $5 a month could get you access to those channels through their app, but it only allows you to watch ESPN+ programming.

Don't look now, but several Pitt fans are predicting OHIO to win:

Almost had a pick in spy coverage on goal line. Great defense so far. New D Coordinator is alright with me!
Delayed blitzes with DL and LB. That's called a CHAOS defense. I've never seen us run that.

If Tim Alvin were more vanilla with this offense, he would be a DQ soft serve cone.

Bobcat110 just reminded me:
How was the show that was put on by the 110?
Listening to the game it sounded like the Bobcats were several third down stops away from having a real close score.

My spouse and I made it to the game. A couple Ohio fans mentioned that Nate had the flu?

The TV announcers said he had some sort of virus and was probably experiencing the worst of it today. When a huge dynamic of your offense is not there, you're not going to win against a higher grade of athlete.

Unfortunately, Ohio had a weakened offense to face a very good defense. Not a good combination but the defense played tough. Ohio would have had to make a few more plays it missed to have a chance. I'm not really discouraged by the result.

Pretty simple and it applies to all sports; you can't fall as far behind as we did to a team with superior athletes and expect to win. It doesn't matter if it had to do with injuries, illness, play calling etc.

I had to sign up for directv's sports pack but they gave a three-month free trail. It really does suck that you can't get it through ESPN+.
As for the game, I'd say the defense improved over last week. They gave up the same number of points on the road vs Pitt as they did at home vs URI last week. They stuffed the run really well until the last drive and overall weren't bad on pass defense. I think most of Pitt's passing yardage came on the two drives they had for TDs in the first half. No second half TDs at all.
The offense showed how important it is to have Nathan get involved in the running game. Pitt's defense didn't have to worry about him. It also made the young offensive line very vulnerable. The seven (?) sacks Pitt had made a huge difference.
Great coverage again this week on special teams. Ffrench is a real threat but they managed to contain him well.
T'erd looked very sharp defensively against Boise this week. We'll need to have Nathan healthy for next week.

Bummer to see Nathan not able to play his game. It is just disappointing to me we could not get that early-season win over Pitt. They are middle of the pack (at best) ACC Team and they handled our OL w/o two starters on the DL.
When the D stuffed Pitt on the bonehead 4th down play call, I thought we had our chance to swing some momentum. Instead, we went backwards and punted.

The game I saw left me with these thoughts'
1) We were hampered with Rourke sick and not able to run.
2) Our pass D needs improvement
3) Our tackling needs some work
As a final note.... I think had Rourke been healthy we would have won this game.
I have not lost any enthusiasm and the potential for this team is still great.

Kids do the darnedest things. Pretty much every coach will have gray or no hair from them, those darnedest things.
