WVU is a +40 point favorite over Bob Morris in 2 minutes. Will be tuning in to see what they’re up to with the half dozen QB’s on the roster, including former Charlotte starter Max Browne. Rich Rod said they might all see time… good luck with that. They have 79 new players. Whole bunch of high major transfers.

They are struggling, almost halftime and only up 10-3.

Four fumbles hurt. I thought they were intentionally running a vanilla playbook in the 1st quarter to keep Robert Morris in the game. Feels like a glorified practice for WVU I don't know how many conclusions to draw. I wish they were playing a tougher opening opponent than RMC.

I'm mot watching it but with so many new players they might be running basic playbook to get them used to the system and not give us anything fancy to practice against this week.

Marchiol looks crisp.

17/20 for 224 and a TD. Also has 50 yards rushing and a TD.

Their 3rd string QB (from Mentor) has a 60 yard rushing TD.

Just like I did for the Rutgers game, I was a guest on a West Virginia podcast today to discuss our home opener vs. WVU. I hope I did okay here.

If we had finished against Rutgers we'd have a much more realistic path to the playoff. We probably need total chaos or a win in the Horseshoe now. It is hardly worth mentioning at this point. We are a 2.5 point underdog to WVU, basically exactly what I predicted a few months ago, and would probably be favored in every MAC game if the game were this week, probably by only 1 or 2 at Buffalo, so a very good record is still possible. But we are staring down, what, about 36 points next week? We'll be given right about a 1% chance to win if WVU is a close win or loss.

As I said in the prediction thread, even though I think we'd be favored in every game after OSU, I am in no way predicting a 8-0 MAC record. We have no chance to pull an upset, a couple of games that aren't much better than 50/50, and at least a pretty realistic chance to be upset in most games. 6-2 is probably my median expectation. We could easily do better or worse than that.

We entered last week with the FBS leading win streak. If we had come into the home of the #1 team with the nation's longest winning streak there might have been at least a very small amount of national talk around that game but now shows like Gameday won't mention it.

Being at least somewhat optimistic doesn't hurt. I said what I said.

There has been quite a bit of discussion about how many Mountaineers fans will be at the game and that their representation may even approach how many fans the Bobcats have. I’m sure the students and band will do their best to be at the top of their game in terms of support. I truly hope other Bobcats fans will take their fandom (cheering) to new levels. In my case, to be honest, I cheer and support the team in an admittedly restrained manner. This is not the game for that IMHO. I urge everyone to abandon their comfort zone this week ;).

I thought I heard somewhere the endzone steps would be removed since the band no longer sits there. Has that actually happened? I would think this would be a game to put the band in the endzone to sell more tickets.

Hasn't happened yet. Part of a larger project to create a VIP section adjacent to that endzone and area of the plaza in front of the Sook Center.

Only anecdotal evidence: I have several different WVU former players as acquaintances and have home season tickets for the Mountaineers and none had interest in going/coming to Athens for the game.

Curious as to why not? Was it more that they just didn't really have strong interest or more so they wanted to avoid this trip? This matchup is solid for college football-knowers.

Friend I am going with has a freshman. Students are buzzing about it and planning to go in big numbers, and many have concerns some will be turned away. His daughter and friend are just joining us with regular paid tickets out of fear of the student ticket process.

I predict 1/3rd WVU fans, primarily the SE corner of the stadium and the north ends.

From what I've heard the last few weeks, there will be plenty of students turned away. Good move on getting guaranteed entry.

Do you suppose a project to add 10,000 seats, restrooms and concession to the east side will now move up the priority list? Incoming!!!!! ;)

Couldn't students just go to the Convo or wherever and pick up their student ticket now? Or reserve it electronically if we've done away with student paper tickets? I was always handed a paper ticket for some reason at the entrance every time I went to a game. As long as you show student ID at the gate (to prevent selling the ticket), I don't see the drawback.

That long-awaited 2nd deck on the east side? The one you've been calling for since the Grobe years?
