It wasn't pretty, but winning a road conference game rarely is. Congratulations, Bobcats. Good win, and step 1 on the road to the MAC championship.

Evidently! He does seem to have developed some additional leg strength over the off season. I still don't understand how the ball did that. Appeared to bounce up, break the plane of the uprights and land in front of the goalposts??!!

I was ready to bury this team and this season at halftime. A lot of hideous football but a nice result. I hope this is the start of some positive momentum.

Man what a win! I was holding up our dinner plans until the game ended. I can't imagine how it would have been had we lost. This should give the boys that spark we needed to move forward. NIU losing to BS was a shocker to me. I sure as hell don't want to see a HC egg laid next week and I don't think it will happen. This is a win you build from and create some momentum.

Remember, the kick was into the wind, so if the ball bounced straight up, the wind would have blown it back towards the field. That has to be the closest near miss I have ever seen.

They certainly didn't quit today. Sometimes a game like that can turn the season. Defense stepped up 2nd half, O-line just enough.

Looking at the numbers, the defense was slightly better in the second half, but the biggest difference was that Ohio dominated the time of possession, and kept Buffalo off the field.

Total defense:
First half 36 plays, 212 yards, 5.89 yards/play
Second half 25 plays, 141 yards, 5.64 yards/play

Rushing defense:
First half 21 carries, 91 yards, 4.3 yards/carry
Second half 17 carries, 65 yards, 3.8 yards/carry

Compared to prior games, the defense was definitely much improved. Let's hope they become dominantly good in the conference games.

That game was, what, something like 3 hours and 6 minutes WITH overtime? First half was something like 70 minutes. If NIU cooperates and joins us in an equally clock-burny game on Homecoming, we might see a record number of alumni butts still in the seats at the end of the game (mainly because no body has realized that its time for them to head uptown)

While the defense looks okay the offense is so much weaker this year. With last year's offense at least 4-1.

And Coleman and Ceasar are just Sophomores. They will get stronger. But, in fairness, Louisiana and Buffalo had very good offensive lines. There will be some ahead that are not nearly as good, and they already looked much better against Buffalo, so I'm optimistic about the rest of the year. I'm hoping most of the remaining teams have under 130 yards of rushing.

I think our issues are/were more schematic rather than physical strength, based on the 1st half/2nd half disparities in both the Buffalo and La games.

All of those are legitimate, but I give that staff a pass on punting, as their starter had his leg snapped like a twig in Happy Valley. He was really good last season.

It's worth pointing out that Ohio's backup place kicker is Tristian Vandenberg, a true Freshman from Buffalo, New York. Vandenberg did not have an offer from Buffalo.
