Ash is out after only 8 wins in 3+ seasons. Being in the B10 that's probably more than they can expect. Rutgers is in that league for the money, not the wins.

Well,Rutgers did make their tight ends coach, who had no college experience
before this, interim head coach,so why not.

Most fans hope Schiano comes back.
But it would be hard to "catch lightning in a bottle" a second time.

Pretty much every R.U. fan knew that, except for wrestling,R.U. was not B1G ready.
Still aren't

When it was announced that RU and Maryland were going to the B1G,several papers reported that the only reason the B1G was interested was to get a T.V. presence on the East coast.
According to those stories, local cable companies were required to offer the Big Ten Network.

On RU's side,the B1G money was a big incentive.

Right now there's a lot of grumbling about RU being the B1G's doormat.

Seems to be a number of people who think that, unless things change dramatically, RU's stay in the B1G may be limited.

But were they really that much stronger in the Big East? I remember them getting hammered pretty bad against teams that are even in the American still. When the Big East was stronger with Virginia Tech, WVU, Miami, etc. Rutgers still had 70+ points dropped on them. The B1G has to know what was being brought to the table.

Under Schiano they progressed to a point where they were at least competitive in the Big East.

Now they've regressed to the point where they're losing to non-conference opponents like Boston College.

No question the B1G knew what they were getting.
But as I posted, the B1G wanted a presence on the East coast.

I'm sure the rest of the B1G doesn't have a problem hammering Rutgers
in football and, for the most part, basketball every game.

It just a matter of how long RU's fans will tolerate it.

Are you saying they will leave voluntarily, and go to G5? Or are you saying that the B1G will kick them out to replace them with another east coast team? Who? BC? UConn? SUNY (aka Buffalo)?

Depends on who you listen to.

A number of Rutgers fans feel going to the B1G was,at best, premature.
They feel that, money or not,RU should move to a conference where they'd be
more competitive.

There have been some news stories that the AD's from some B1G schools don't feel that, based on being so non-competitive,RU belongs in conference.
But they all were based on "un-named" sources,so who knows if they're true or not.

The Big Ten network is now firmly established in the NY/NJ area.
There is also with no indication Maryland would leave the B1G.

Most sports people out here think that, if RU leaves the B1G,they won't be any hurry to replace them with another Northeast team.
