Nicely done by the Eagles. I thought they were going to blow it when they allowed the Illini to tie it up late in the 4th. But Chris Creighton does it again against the Big 10.

They are definitely a contender in the West. Their QB Glass had a solid day 300+ yards, 3 TDs, no INTs.

The MAC isn't exactly having a stellar day. Aside from Eastern Michigan's win against a very suspect Illini squad, there isn't much to hang our hat on. I mean if we have to point to a Toledo victory against Murray State, yikes. Liberty thumping Buffalo and Bowling Green getting steam rolled by Louisiana Tech is a bit humbling.

Yet it has been a an all around strange day in college football. When I saw that Notre Dame put 66 on Mexico State, I thought Clemson was going to put 80 on Syracuse. Yet, it still was a contest into the 3rd quarter. Georgia Tech lost to the FCS Citadel and Iowa- Iowa State might still be playing as far as I know. The strangest thing might have been seeing a half empty Rose Bowl, and half the attendees who were there seemed to be road tripping Oklahoma fans. Chip Kelly might be able to bring in some stellar recruits, but a few years ago many NFL coaches were trying to emulate his every move. Now his UCLA squad gets beat in successive weeks by Cincinnati, San Diego State and Oklahoma. Strange days indeed!

The end of that Iowa/Iowa State game was perfect. Absolutely hilarious.

It hasn't exactly been a stellar year for the MAC. We're 3-20 vs 1A schools. That includes one win over a "P" school and two wins over Sun Belt teams (EMU over Coastal Carolina and WMU over GaSt). By contrast, I think Mountain West has seven wins over "P" schools alone.

The MAC continues its downward trend, the bowl record over the last couple years just confirms it.

I don't see a deviation in overall pattern from the past 15 or 20 years in the MAC where the MAC West has 4 solid teams and the East has 1 or 2. Once in a while the East has 3 solid teams. Last year it was Ohio, Buffalo and Miami. This year its Ohio and then who is #2 in the East? Miami might go 7-5. Chuck Martin is in year 6 over there. OSU will murder them next week so that is loss #3. Akron has a year 1 coach, BG and Kent are in year 2. Buffalo 6-6? There is not a whole lot of competition this year in the MAC East.

Is Ohio a "solid" team? Maybe but the Cats haven't shown it yet.
