i thought maleek looked very good. very hard to bring down. hamilton will have to tailor things to that.. although maleek did have success as pass catcher, i wouldn't have thought it would be strength.

he looked good on pass protection.

as noted, hamilton hadn't beaten calgary in a long time (twice a season). or even shown much offensively

i think maleek will be better and better running the ball over time. not sure about the pass receiving. but that receiving stats were excellent too.
I guess you missed 3 years of him playing in Athens Ohio and catching the passes that were thrown his way...even scoring on a few

Irons had 9 carries for 45 yards against Winnipeg, but got no stats in the last game, a loss to Saskatchewan. I don't know if he was hurt, or not. The running back against Saskatchewan was Coombs, who was only netted 21 yards on 9 carries, but did have a TD catch.

For the season:
Thomas-Erlington 33 carries, 224 yards, no TD, 5.1/carry
Irons 35 carries, 156 yards, 1 TD, 4.5/carry
Coombs 18 carries, 74 yards, 0 TD, 4.1/carry

Receiving it is:
Thomas-Erlington 11 carries, 193 yards, 1 TD, 17.5/catch
Irons 7 carries, 40 yards, 0 TD, 5.8/catch
Coombs 7 carries, 83 yards,1 TD, 11.9/catch

Coombs is a canadian TB. i think the complete opposite of Maleek. Coombs is small and very shifty. might have playing receiver before this but originally a tailback (at least in canadian college)

Irons has been placed on the six game injured list, and missed the comeback win last night over BC. In the course of the win, Hamilton apparently executed a trick play.

Edit - NVM, I learned the answer. Apparently in Canadian rules, if you drop in punt formation, but some players line up behind the punter, those players lined up behind the punter can field the ball and retain possession. Here's an example where two players drop behind the punter, then one of them recovers the ball and scores a TD:

haven't checked recently but no touches tonight from what i saw.

in Maleek (and the previous starter)'s absence, looks like hamilton went back to an american tailback.

i don't know the import rules exactly for the CFL but if they bring Maleek in, they'd probably have to take out a canadian WR and put in an american backup WR (and they might only have 1)....

that's a big problem with going to ratio-busting canadian in the CFL. you don't just need the great talent as starter, you need a reasonable canadian backup too

I don't think this is correct. Here is the rule:

I do see maximums of international players. I do not see maximums of Canadian players. So, my understanding is that if they meet the legal number of Canadian starters (minimum of 7), and add an additional player (e.g. Maleek), moving to 8 starters, no problem. The problem would have come when Maleek got hurt. If they were at the bare minimum of 7 starters, and the loss of Maleek dropped them to 6, they would have had to find another position where they could start a Canadian.

You realize Irons is Canadian? He would actually benefit by these rules, not get hurt by them.

He is correct that if they start a Canadian, they also want a Canadian backup, but not for the reason he gives. The reason is that if the Canadian starter gets hurt, and the backup is not Canadian, they have to start a Canadian at some other position to keep the number of Canadian starters up. So, you could end up with a situation where you lose your Canadian running back and have to start an American backup, resulting in having to bench your starting American WR so as to start a Canadian backup. In the process, you lose two starters, not just one.
