I notice that Toledo knocked off pre-season fave Western Michigan and they also beat BYU this season.

If a p5 was looking for a new coach, what are some of the best things about Candle besides being fairly young at 39 or 40? Offense? Defense? etc?

Unless I'm missing something, I think Toledo was the fave in the West, even with WMU expected to improve.

Sixteen pundits picked Toledo, 3 picked WMU.

The prognostication know-it-all that I look at picked WMU. But if Toledo was picked by a bunch of them, they must be pretty good. And their coach might be pretty good.

Back to the question... why is Candle good? What are his best attributes that could potentially make him a coach in the BigTen/SEC/Big12 etc?

This is the one I saw that picked WMU to win the west. He has the Bobcats winning by 4 this week over NIU...

I would say Candle has been most impressive as a recruiter. He has kept the talent pipeline moving into Toledo.

He is an 0-fer when it comes to the bowl season, however.
