Who will Athenian college football fans root for in this year's CFB playoffs when LSU and Burrow go up against o$u?

If judging by all the purple on sale at Athens stores and the marquees of stores, I would say that’s a pretty simple answer. Local Walmart selling more LSU product than OSU.

I hope this post is more accurate than the post about the one 45' ribbon board that wasn't going to be turned on for games.

Recent mocks have him in the Top 12. Most say he is Marcus Mariota's replacement for the Titans. As a Colts fan, I hope he goes to another division.

That post was accurate, the first week it was ready and not turned on, at the end of the day the coaching staff lost that battle because advertising dollars had already been sold, and contractual to be displayed. Wait until the night games and lets see if they are on.

How about the Colts drafting him?

I dont see him being there at 18 or up on the draft board. Steelers, Dolphins and Falcons should really take him. Jags should look at him too if Minschew doesnt come through.

I’m not going to look back for the threads but I seem to recall many fans who thought we had a chance to get Burrow out of HS and then as a transfer during various times, lol this guy is so much better than anybody ever imagined.

Some even said he’d never play at a big time level. And then you had a few who said he was the real deal.

I called out how talented Joey Burrow was as a Sophomore seeing him at Athens HS..and even more after I noticed that same HS Sophomore was at Peden Stadium in the mornings lifting weights and watching film.

Decent article from the NYT (although I got tired of Athens and Ohio being called "pretty"): https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/joe-burrow...

Seems like Athens and O.U. may be missing a marketing opportunity.

How about:

Bulldogs for Burrow

Or

Bobcats for Burrow

Tee shirts

So you think The OHIO Athletics department should promote the LSU quarterback?

I'd call it "supporting",just like a number of people in Athens are.

I don't see anything wrong with supporting a local kid, whose father was our long time defensive coordinator, who,by the way, just might win the Heisman.

Just allow Ohio is Home or CBS print them.

Good for Joey, home town boy and all that folksy sh**, but if our athletic department printed a shirt for an LSU qb, that would be the most smallminded thing I could ever imagine our school doing. You've really got to be kidding.

Read my post.

I didn't say our athletic department should print them.

I said if Ohio is Home or CBS wants to print them,O.U. should allow it.

There’s another interesting connection between our region and LSU — William Tecumseh Sherman was their first president (called superintendent at the time).

Here’s the list of presidents of LSU from the university's official website:

https://www.lsu.edu/president/history.php

How about t-shirts saying:

Sherman’s Bummers for Burrow

If you don’t understand the term bummer in this context, look here:

https://civilwarhome.com/bummers.html

(Note that the pillaging mentioned in the quote at the end happened in South Carolina, "The Mother of Secession." There is much evidence that Sherman's orders were routinely disobeyed in South Carolina, in contrast to relatively good military discipline in Georgia, contrary to current mythology.)

My daughter graduated from Georgia this spring and I post on Dawgnation quite a bit. Back in January of 2017 they had a thread about flipping Emory Jones who was committed to O$U at the time or Fields who was a Penn State commit. In the third post of the thread I told them about Joe Burrow and that I thought he could start at any school. Had no idea who would wind up at LSU and bear UGA last year and probably face them again this year in the SEC Championship.

Good Stuff

See a good size ad in the local paper from a local business giving the "Heisman Watch" with a photo of Joe and his stats against Bama
