Here's what should be the final update on bowl eligible teams. There are 79 eligible teams for the 78 slots. I don't think Army will be in the mix because it not only plays 13 games but also has beaten two 1AA schools but only count one toward eligibility. So even if it wins out, it should be treated as a 6-7 team and have priority behind 6-6 teams. But there are enough 6-win teams to fill all the slots, so Army likely won't count, even if it gets to seven wins. The playoff and NY6 slots are based on current standings and projections. Teams in the playoff and NY6 projections are not included in the eligible teams for their conference. All G teams with 7+ wins are "locks" as are all bowl-eligible "P" teams. Bubble teams include all 6-6 G teams (unless their conference has only enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all its slots) plus Liberty, which had to win seven games for bowl eligibility because it played more than one 1AA school.

Here are just the ones updated for this week. The Bahamas Bowl is already incorrect on the sites. I don't know how many redo them after each pairing is actually announced. Most seem to believe that the odd team out is EMU or Toledo.

Jerry Palm (CBS) 12/30 First Responder Bowl (Dallas) vs. Florida Atlantic
Kyle Bonagura (ESPN) 12/21 Boca Raton Bowl (Boca Raton) vs. Florida Atlantic
Mark Schlabach (ESPN) 12/21 Boca Raton Bowl (Boca Raton) vs. Temple
Brant Parsons (Orlando Sentinel) 1/3 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Boise) vs. Wyoming
Pete Fiutak (CFN) 12/21 Camellia Bowl (Montgomery) vs. Arkansas St.
Jason Kirk (SBNation) 12/21 Camellia Bowl (Montgomery) vs. Georgia Southern
College Sports Madness 12/20 Bahamas Bowl (Nassau) vs. UAB
Brad Crawford (247Sports) 12/21 Camellia Bowl (Montgomery) vs. Arkansas St.

Gasparilla is also in play. Although Boca Raton is most likely it would seem.

The open non-MAC slots would appear to be:

Quick Lane Bowl (from ACC) vs B10
Armed Forces Bowl (from B10) vs MWC
Cheeze It Bowl (from Pac12) vs B12
Liberty Bowl (from SEC) vs B12
Birmingham Bowl (from SEC) vs AAC
Independence Bowl (from SEC) vs ACC

If not Boca I'd personally love to see Ohio v UNC in the Liberty Bowl.

Anyone who was kept up with the qualifiers......how many other conferences other than the MAC will have a surplus of teams that exceeds their existing tie-ins, if any?

Hmmm...Does anyone else here feel as I do that there is no such thing as a sure thing bowl invitation for Ohio until one is in hand?

We are more deserving that a couple MAC teams, but that doesn’t mean much. I can’t imagine that the AD won’t do all she can to talk some bowls into taking us. It’s a pretty easy sell IMHO.

I would like the Quick Lane Bowl vs either Michigan State or Illinois Fightin'Illini at 6-6. Close proximity for all and a great experience I think.

CUSA has three: FIU (6-6), SNiss (7-5) and either T'erd or WKU (each at 8-4).
MWC has one, either UtahSt, Wyoming or Nevada (all at 7-5).
Then there's independent Liberty (7-5, but with two 1AA wins).
So with the four 6-6 MAC teams, that's nine teams for eight bowl games (maybe the six mentioned above plus a slot in the Frisco Bowl and one MAC bowl).

Of course, this can change depending on who gets in the playoff and the two Cotton Bowl slots.
