So if Ohio goes 7-6 and wins another meaningless bowl game ... would this season suddenly be deemed a success?

Bowl games get less and less meaningful each year.

A 6-6 team beating a unmotivated 8-4 team ... is that really something so great?

I think it's great for the players to get one more chance to play a game, the bowl experience and everything that comes along with it.

But as a fan ... it's hard to get excited about another season of high hopes ending in disappointment and then trying to get hyped for a game that might as well be a scrimmage because you don't know A) who cares to even be there and B) who is even going to play because of NFL draft stock

It's a broken system ... obviously. When you have 78 bowls teams that most are barely a game or two over .500 is a bowl really a "reward"?

An Armed Forces Bowl win over Utah State isn't going to suddenly make 2019 a great season? I hope people can see that ...
I would welcome a bowl game if it means that Nathan Rourke has a shot at the all-time yardage record for Ohio. He is currently only 224 yards short of passing Tyler Tettleton.

Army cannot be eligible.

Since they play 13 games they need to have 7 wins, but they have also won against 2 non-D1 teams, and can only count 1 as a win.
So as of now they have 5 wins, but can only count 4 of them.

With only 2 games left (and one after the bowls are announced) they cannot get to 7 wins (with 6 vs. D1 teams)
Actually, the NCAA rules allow teams that are 6-7 during the regular season to be bowl eligible if there aren't enough teams that are 6-6 or better to fill all the slots. The 6-7 teams get priority over 5-7 teams. If Army gets to 7 wins, I think they would be treated as a 6-7 team.

"It just feels like we're rolling and we don't want to call it quits, said Solich. "Obviously, everyone in the program would love to play another game. I know the kind of effort they'll take to the bowl site and what they'll be all about at the bowl site and will really represent Ohio and the MAC conference very strongly. In saying all of that, we just wait and see now."

Ohio will get a bowl. Where? I'm not sure. But Ohio is going bowling.

You know this is just a publication's guess right? Not sure the outrage is necessary until it actually happens.

I also saw one today that says Ohio vs Georgia Southern in the Camilia Bowl which would be far less interesting than B'ham vs Cincinnati. I'm hoping against hope that the athletic department can lobby the Music City bowl and point to the number of fans Ohio brought to the big dance that weekend they beat Michigan at Bridgestone Arena. I can guarantee Nashville will be more fun than Birmingham or Montgomery. The Preds play New Years Day at 12 noon and if you haven't been to an NHL game in Smashville, you have no idea what you missed.

USA Today now projects Ohio vs Cincinnati in the not so glamorous Birmingham Bowl on Jan. 2nd at 2pm central. Hotel prices for that night seem reasonable around the town. Be careful what part of town you pick if it happens.

If the weather is good and if the 110 plays, I'll probably go.
Were we last year's team I'd say that's a win for Ohio. This year's team, yeah not so much.....

Although, that bowl game game would be a huge comedown for UC, the #19th ranked team in the country. They deserve a much better bowl game than that. Maybe Ohio would catch them off guard.
Totally agree ... what a slap in the face for UC.

UC probably wouldn't even accept that bid. They'll end up going somewhere to face an ACC or SEC team most likely. It would be fun to see Cincinnati face Louisville in a sort of rivalry renewed type bowl game.

I don't think that this bowl will happen. The projection is partially a result of all or nearly all eligible teams projected to to to bowls and the P5 conference being short and the G5 being over their slots. Even though Cincy is a G5 team there are some projected mismatches created by just inserting the overage from the G5 into the numerous bowls with projected open slots. I think in this situation there is going to be a lot a dealing between the bowls, networks, and conferences to move around some of the bowls that have open slots so the end result in all but the highest paying 20 or so bowls is probably pretty hard to project.

Yeah, our crowd there for the basketball tournament was Yuge! And a Bowl game is so much bigger than a first/second round NCAA Tournament game. If we had 10k fans at Nashville for basketball, we will slay them in the Music City Bowl.

Nissan Stadium holds 69,143. If a non p5 school is invited, there will have to be a massive ticket selling effort on their part. I'm not sure if there is a non-p5 besides U of Memphis that would bring 30,000 fans.

Just saw these additional projections on 247 sports. Is the Birmingham Bowl payback time for last year?

Birmingham Bowl: Cincinnati vs. Ohio
Idaho Potato Bowl: Toledo vs. Nevada
Armed Forces Bowl: Buffalo vs. Air Force
Mobile Bowl: Central Michigan vs. Georgia Southern
Texas Bowl: Oklahoma State vs. Eastern Michigan

Well we will most likely know if we’re going to be a bowl participant tomorrow since many of the games involving 5-6 teams are then. It would be amazing if some of those teams win-Colorado, Troy, Oregon State, La-Monroe. The key games like NC, Boston College, Miss St, Neb will likely determine our fate. If they win, we’re probably toast. A Kent St shouldn’t hurt as we would likely get in before them. I would think we might get in over one of the 7-5 MAC teams, not sure though.

First - Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

I certainly hope we get one more game so I can watch Air Canada do his thing one more time. Sucks that we lost 2 straight at home but here we are...I hope the back story for Frank and our GOAT QB get us a game.

I'll be checking in on many of the tilt games that impact our chances.

Finally, I hope Burrow makes it to the National Title Game (for my Athens buddies) and kicks OSUcks A$$. That would be epic.

bshot- I would suggest that nobody is forcing you to watch Ohio if they end up in a bowl game. "Who cares to even be there?" Ask the players who would love to play one more game for the green and white? Many fans just enjoy watching Ohio play a football game one more time this season. Would you ask the same question to Bobcat basketball fans who enjoy watching Ohio play Rio Grande, Heidelberg or Wilberforce? Many Ohio supporters who follow Bobcat athletic programs enjoy watching their favorite school perform no matter what the occasion.

I really have to believe we would get picked over a 6-6 Toledo team that will finish with 3 losses and a loss to BG. I would think we would get over either a 6-6 Kent or Eastern Michigan.

I think the MAC games went the Cats way in terms of a bowl game selection. Fewer 7-5 teams work in our favor. Toledo seems to be the most attractive of the 6-6 teams based on attendance, but they just got pasted 49-7. Kent and EMU have generally weak fan bases--am I wrong? I do think that Kent is a good story and wouldn't mind seeing them play in a bowl game. I wish Buffalo would've lost, but I didn't have any hopes for BGSU's performance.

"I apologize to my teammates, coaches and Rebel Nation for my actions at the end of the game," Moore said in a statement. "It was an emotional moment, and I deeply regret it. It does not represent who I am or who we are as a team, and I will grow stronger from this mistake."

BS. It perfectly represents who you are - selfish, attention-seeking, immature teammate.

But I guess "it does not represent who I am" is a must in any apology these days.

I realize the kid's only a sophomore whose brain hasn't yet fully developed (human brains don't fully develop until age 22), but he's also playing for a "P" (pun intended) team so it seems he should have more smarts than he showed. They wouldn't even let that crap pass in the NFL. C'mon man. Too bad Ole Miss can't make him re-earn his schollie.
