Solich closing in on another MAC record as well. 111 wins, Congrats Coach Solich.

Coach holds the records for most games coached and most wins, been remarkably consistent.

The trouble next year is not the number of starters lost. It is that the few starters lost include Rourke and Hagan. I'm also concerned about replacing a really good kicker and punter.

I'm actually looking forward to next year. I don't think it will be as bad as some people fear. For the first time in 3 years, Ohio will be the "hunter" instead of the "hunted". Ohio's been a MACC favorite for several years and that puts a rather large target on their back. How will the young players play now that the target's gone and the pressure is less? I for one am curious/excited to see how it all plays out.

That being said, Coach Solich has to know that something needs to be done on defense. What he'll do I have no clue but I have to think he's going to address that side of the ball somehow.

I’m not saying this is true in our case. I think we have many good young players. However, when I witness discussions and positive comments about veteran teams coming back many times it reminds me of the old joke/saying:

“The good news is we have everyone coming back. The bad news? We have everyone coming back.”

Such discussions often make me chuckle.

I agree. I expect Ohio will be picked first or second in the East. If I were a betting man, I'd say second. You know darn well BG and Akron will be at the bottom and Kent State has a helluva time getting past Ohio. Buffalo has been a challenging opponent for Ohio but UB can't win in Athens for the life of them, and that's where next year's game will be played. So those four will make up spots 3-6. It'll come down to Ohio and Miami for the top two spots.

Miami will be picked first. Their quarterback, best running back, and best receivers return and defense overall was solid.

The issue in the Solich era I worry about is how certain players fall short of expectations. This year I feel like our DBs as a whole fell short. AOS fell short after a great 1st year. Where has Odom gone? Worries me about who will regress next year?

Arkley just tweeted that Kurtis Rourke is done for the season because of a scheduled shoulder surgery.

This will be huge. They've both been automatic for years.

I must say that as good as Rourke is in the running game, over his 3 years, his passing completion rate did not continue to improve. This stat is one of 2 reasons, IMO, that the team did not perform better this year. The other reason is the low number of forced turnovers.
If we can just find a QB with a completion rate consistently around 70% we will improve that W-L record.

I do think we will have a better W-L record next year because of all the returning young talent in the key O positions.

If the O Line doesn't improve, the QB won't matter.

The OL will be fine, and the QB probably isn't even in Athens yet. I'm convinced a grad transfer or Juco - or both - will be coming.

Wondering what everybody thinks about that. I’m not necessarily a big fan, but need to see who it is I guess. Malik Zaire?

I think going after a grad transfer (or JUCO) with some experience is a wise decision. It's just too risky in my opinion to automatically hand over the keys to the offense to anyone with little or no college game experience. I do think our young quarterbacks have a lot of potential but there have been no growth opportunities this year.

I remember when our hopes were built up for Malik Zaire and/or Merril Hoge's son and all we got was some JUCO guy from Canada.

What about the freshman coming in? I have read some great things about him. Seems like an athlete, big frame, nice arm. Are we getting the Maine quarterback? If so then awesome, we are getting an FCS guy.

An article about his transferring says he wants a pro style offense. That’s not us, right?
