This team doesn’t play smart at all.
More like our f****** offensive play calling doesn't.

I am over this, same crap different day. Tough to get excited when you know darn well how the script is going to read at the end of the season. Time for Frank to retire, and get some new blood in here. If he names Albin successor, good luck getting a dime out of me.

I doubt anyone cares whether you contribute a dime or not. Players lost both of the last 2 games, not coaches.

Call a draw play on 3rd and Goal and I call that putting our players in position to lose.....you can say the players lost it all you want, but who recruited em and coached em up?

Yeah, let’s just blame it all on the college kids. The last two weeks were absolutely no reflection at all on the quality of the coaching staff and the way they prepared the college kids to play. Or the in-game play calling and other decisions.

And the home record this year (2-4!?), let’s just blame it all on the college kids.

I personally think it goes both ways. Ron Collins is obviously not a Defensive Coordinator, but there have been times this season that the players just didn’t make plays or they made dumb penalties. How many times have we been called for offsides because of a d-lineman lining up in the neutral zone. I would like to talk more about the things that Ron has messed up but that will take weeks to talk about. Offensively, the O-line wasn’t as good as to what we’re used to. Rourke seems to have to get the snap and either run or hope someone is open in a second. But there are also times where Tim Albin decides to call a play that we all know won’t work out. Like the run play up the middle on 3rd down last night. I say next year, we’ll probably finish maybe 6-6, depending on how good the MAC is. But I think we’ll be good in lil Canada’s (Kurtis) second year at QB. We’ll have a good RB room and WR’s. Hopefully the O-Line will be good and same goes for the D-Line. Linebackers will be good especially with Keye Thompson. The secondary worries me no matter what so we’ll just have to see on that.

If you want to open your eyes and deal with facts we can. Allison fumble in opening drive versus Miami cost us 7 (loss to a win). Knock's fumble at midfield on the punt last night led to 7 for WMU at end of 1st half. Also loss turns to a win. Coaches coach and players are expected to execute.

It's silly to think we will never turn the ball over. Especially playing in 20 degree weather.

Why is it that we are never in position to force turnovers on other teams? We are 127th out of 130 FBS teams in takeaways per game.

There just aren't any playmakers on D any more. It makes all of our offensive mistakes that much more glaring since our D can't stop anyone.

That's coaching.

And what has been our take-away stat over the past 15 years? Have we always been this bad, or is this an anomaly?

Across FBS, turnover luck tends to move around a lot year-to-year. Really good turn over margin one year? It’ll regress toward (or past!) the mean the next year. Terrible turn over margin one year will tend to be followed by a much better one the following year.

Because much of turnover margin is luck. Not all of it, but much

Another interesting stat I stumbled on: we are considerably better playing on Saturday (about .650) than we are playing on any other day of the week (barely over .500).

What's Ohio's record under Solich on OCF's birthday? Undefeated? Or close to undefeated?

Was it 20 degrees against Miami?

Re: WMU --> they played in the same conditions without turning the ball over.

Hagan was stripping the ball and had a TO if the RB's knee hadn't been down.

You can feel that players mistakes are on the coaches but I'll disagree. As I imagine both Knock and Allison would as well.

Yes, I do.

Do you understand that obvious glaring mistakes made by players are their responsibility? Both that I cited are 100% on the players. Go watch replays if you need to.

So based off what I'm reading ... if I'm correctly using this logic on basketball .... Bobcats are 3-0 NOT because of anything Jeff Boals has done ... it's because of the players?

🤔🤔🤔🤔

It's a two-way street. Coaches need to put their players on position to win and players need to execute.

Neither have happened well this year.

But why has Ohio had slow starts to BIG November games the last three years? Why have they struggled in midweek games with division titles on the line? You're saying it's the players ... even tho those players change over every few years?

There's been one constant with this program ... well, two ... the last 15 yrs. Nearly same exact coaching staff and no MAC titles.

But that's the players fault?

And that's why Saul got canned last year ... because the players didn't execute. Jeff Boals should get little credit for the early turnaround the basketball program is showing.

Ok. Got it.

The funny thing about it is that Saul was more or less justifiably killed on this board for his lack of recruiting prowess. To a certain extent, yes that is true. He had some major busts.

But, Boals is proving that some of those could play. They just weren't put in a position to win from the previous regime.

Coaching is EVERYTHING in the college game. Recruiting is the lifeblood of your program, but you gotta be able to move those parts and help them develop.
