I’ve seen it mentioned that Coach Solich is on a year-to-year renewable contract. If that is true, how in the world does that help recruiting, which is the life-blood of any college football program?

I don’t understand how the program can continue with an arrangement like that. I was never recruited to play college sports, but I’ve got to think the potential stability of the head coach is a factor in the decision to some level. Having a 75-year-old head coach on one-year deals seems to scream potential instability. I doubt that IPFs, academic centers, and stadium improvements can compensate for that. And better talent coming in makes it easier to get better talent coming out.

If Frank is no longer the coach, does the program risk being less successful? Certainly.
To continue with the status quo, does the program risk stagnating well short of a MACC? Certainly

Franks age and contract situation have probably been issues for several years, but I don’t think it has had overall negative impact on recruiting. Ohio has seldom had top level MAC classes so not much has changed and if anything the last few classes seem to be pretty good or at least aren’t regressing. I personally don’t doubt that we don’t have quite the talent level of some programs in the MAC, but as others have pointed out, there may be other factors than Franks age or contract terms.

I think the respect that Frank has earned in his profession carries over to influence some players ( and or their parents or coaches), others not do much. Lord knows that most other schools in the conference have had a bit of turnover in their coaching ranks, so it’s not exactly s sure thing that any place is immune to turnover.

This season has been one big flop.

No excuse. People can say players lost games ... and that certainly has merit ... but aren't coaches responsible at some point?

The best game they played was probably the loss at Pitt.

This is without question the most underwhelming season in quite a while.

They were projected to win the league?!?! Maybe that wasn't accurate ... but to not even earn a bowl bid is just sad.

Nathan Rourke rewrote the record books ... and never played in a MAC title game, let alone win one. Sad.

This wasn't a season where one game cost them a title game spot ... this was a bleck season from the start. Highly disappointing.

.... and PS. How sad is it the seniors played their final game in front of that crowd?!? So undeserving. Why does the school not explore doing an early "senior day" during a Saturday game when people can actually attend and pay respect properly. Makes me sad that Rourke and Co. play their final game in front of 28 people. It's a joke. Thanks MACtion. I hate you.
