I have a hunch that we are going to make some adjustments in our offensive system to accommodate Kurtis Rourke's talents. If this is correct, I suspect we might see some JUCO transfers for the OL.

We won our last two games of the season by a total of 93 points. Yet we only had backups throw a total of three passes. Why didn't Kurtis get any run this season if we are so high on him for next year? Why didn't we see what Mischler has in some of the mop-up games at the end? These seem like significant opportunities that were missed. When was Kurtis injured? Was he not available for those last two games?

Kurtis did play against Bowling Green and got hurt, so he did not play against Akron. Those were the only blowout games of the season, other than the opener. Mischler played in that one. At that point starting the year, I think Ohio wanted to make sure Kurtis didn't play in more than four games to save his redhisrt.

There were only three games where using a backup QB in mop up time was possible-the opening game and the last two. Mischler played in all of them. It would've been nice to see him in more games.

I was assuming that Kurtis Rourke was being saved so if Nathan was hurt in one of the last few games they could use him and not burn a redshirt.

I'll make my prediction now that Mischler ends up at a D-II School in the PSAC Conference--Like IUP or Edinboro. I don't think that he gets any D-I scholarship interest at this point. He is from PA and had a lot of high school success. Just a logical hunch.

Well if he winds up at a DII school it would be nice if it was Ohio Dominican or even Ashland.

Why? Neither made the playoffs this year, and the PSAC and MEAC have much better passing oriented schemes and better teams.

Perhaps because he can watch him if he plays at OD or Ashland...

Any interest in talent in SE Ohio? I understand the QB at Jackson HS has paid one or more visits to campus. I'm under the impression at that time the staff was pleased with what they saw from him but indicated there was "no room at the inn" at that time...prior to the transfer portal transfers. I wonder if that'll change now?
He’s a definite dual threat QB.
Jackson's best QB is a freshman. The one who just graduated is not a scholarship quality QB. Maybe another position though. Jackson also has a Junior who has been to campus several times and holds an offer from Akron.
There must be some merit in the senior QB at Jackson. It looks to me like he has a lengthy list of awards and accomplishments and several D1 offers. He appears to be quite an athlete with numerous all-league and all-district honors. Guess I always have a soft spot in my heart for OU going after some of the local talent whenever possible. Not many athletes in our small schools in southeast Ohio ever get the opportunity to play D1 football and when an athlete does show potential for making it I'd at least like him to get the chance.

What DI offers do you find? I know of one FCS offer.

Congrats to Maxwell. He was never going to play over Rourke so I'm glad he found a place. I would not doubt with his size and arm that he will be playing in the league maybe a 5th or 6th rounder. I hope the same for Mischler as he moves on. I don't want people to stay on the team if they're not happy.

🤦🏼‍♂️ He has ONE FCS Scholarship school offering him. My question was “What DI offers do you find”? That’s a question, I have not once said that FCS was not DI. So, I’ll ask again, which ones do you find?

Being from the Jackson area myself and reading 24/7 Sports, I believe he has offers from University of Dayton, Valparaiso, Cornell, and Alcorn St, a couple D2 offers and a few D3 offers, and a couple D1 walk-on offers. One of their coaches said he has an offer to walk on at Stanford University and Furman. According to that coach, Georgetown University has recently also started talking to him. Apparently, he is pretty smart, 4.0 valedictorian.

No, which is exactly my point! Thanks for pointing that out. We have one QB coming back on Schollie, this is not someone you ‘need’ to target. Seen him play twice, up close and personal, good athlete, question is what does he play. As every MAC school and others have passed, that’s pretty telling. And I have been an advocate of local kids for years, but local kids who can play. And Icenhower is playing with 1 kid who’s already been seen by every MAC school and will pick up more as he heads into the summer months. And the younger QB who will be a sophomore will have a great shot to be a DI Scholarship QB, and played quite a bit this year as a freshman, even in tight ball games.

And do you realize that non-scholarship programs do not sign LOI’s, and they take very large classes, and if you get in to school you have passed your biggest obstacle to the team.

I’m not sure I understand your point. You asked a question and I tried to answer it to the best of my knowledge. Sounds more like you have an agenda or some kind of point. Sounds like you are trying to demean kids just because they may not go play at a certain level. I personally am happy for any kids getting to play at the next level. I’ve got some news for you, the MAC is certainly not the highest level of football.
To the best of my knowledge, some FCS schools offer full scholarships and others offer partial. After looking it up, Alcorn St, I believe is full scholarships. Dayton and Valpo I believe offer partial money or packages. I believe that is the case for “higher level education” schools.
Cornell is an Ivy League school, and I don’t know how they do their scholarships, if at all.
D2 schools offer full scholarships. Does that mean that they are a higher level of football?

🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️No Agenda here, Alcon State gives football scholarships at the FCS rate (65) Dayton and Valero operate like a DIII football program, no athletic scholarships, no LOI, like a DIII school, good students who are athletes can get a better pork chop then Joe Student. Valdosta by the way has really struggled lately, they could use some help. Ivy’s do not have Athletic Scholarships.

As for DII, they give 36 equivalents of full scholarships, 100 player roster, 36 scholarships do not go real far. Can a DII school give a full one? Sure, but that happens very rarely.

So no agenda, “you tried to answer to the best of your knowledge”, I simply imparted more knowledge upon you. As I’ve stated, I like the kid, he’s a nice player, he’s not a DI FBS player at this point though. Dayton has had success with Jackson QB’s in the past and it’s a good school, hopefully he can land there.

That is exactly the reason. I live in Columbus and go to many events at ODU and occasionly stop at Ashland for a game if doing a double header in northern Ohio.

??? senior qb has numerous offers including 4 d1’s. He has led the team to 2 state playoffs. Threw for 1500 yds last year but all coach wanted to do was run the ball. I’ve watched this kid play for 3 years & he is the real deal he does it all never get rattled plays even better under pressure he made all league as qb all district as defensive end & all state as a punter how many kids can do that also speaking captain any college team would be lucky to get this kid freshmen qb never went in unless the team was at least 21 ahead he has a lot of time yet to prove himself oh did I mention the senior qb also has a 4 point gpa Jackson will surely miss his leadership on & off the field

Sorry freshman qb daddy. I am a loyal Jackson follower for 40 years. Don’t know this family but I am tired of you bashing other kids. You moved your kid because you didn’t get a coaching position. This kid has a great future ahead of him. One of the best out of Jackson over the years. Your kid (might) have a future ahead of him but quit bashing other kids!

I don’t disagree with what you were saying as far as scholarships. You asked about offers the boy has. I was just telling you what I know and have heard from one of the coaches, as to who else is talking to him. I think some may be confused by the term “scholarships”. And you accurately pointed that out, also as I understand it.
I hope that all kids from SE Ohio get to play where they want. I wish them the best.
I really don’t know where this particular kid wants to go, but I do know that It is well known around Jackson that he is a strong academic kid and wants a high quality education, full athletic scholarship or not. I wish him the best, and we all should for any kids who wants to move to the next level or kids who are transferring from one college program to another.
