I give it to Austin Conrad. His penetration, and the deflection of the pitch on the double reverse really turned the tide, and blew up Nevada's chance for a comeback. It was nice to see fire in the defense at the end, with them getting not one, but two stops when it was needed.

That was a great play but I'd give the game ball to the Nevada coach. His dumb call on that reverse - you call that at the 50 when all 11 defenders aren't within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage - and his call on 4th down not to go for a field goal. Whether they scored a touchdown or field goal, they stil needed to recover an onside kick and with that quarterback and receiving corps, there's a good chance all of us would have been on the edges of our seats or pacing the floor till the end.

I understand the call. Ohio's defense was being very, very aggressive, and he felt Ohio would over pursue. While the call didn't work out due to Conrad's play, I can't really judge whether it was a good call or a bad call since I couldn't tell from the TV shot what would have happened if Conrad hadn't deflected the pitch. Would it have been an easy TD? Did Ohio have defenders home to cover the double reverse? I don't know.

Oh, and it was also Conrad who tripped up Strong, which led to the fumble earlier in the game (where the call on the field was overturned).

It appears that Sam McKnight was home, and might have blown up the reverse anyway.

That was a great play by Conrad. I am a big fan of his. Also thought Coleman looked like he was "shot out of a cannon" going after and recovering the fumble.

I only think that those two calls were bad because they didn't work. I've seen a lot worse calls in my time. with the reverse, Nevada was having a lot of trouble in short-yardage against Ohio (with the exception of the Wildcat). I'm not even sure that guy even got in the end zone for the last TD. If Nevada can score quickly at that point they don't even have to onside kick it with all the timeouts remaining.

Jack McCrory also had a good game, and made a lot of plays, and I noticed some plays from Ty Walton (both receiving and blocking) as well. I loved the sack by McCracken, too.

I will go Danneker and Sink who filled in for starters and did a good job. And of course Conrad made a great play. It was refreshing to see the front four getting pressure.

LC, I'm glad you mentioned McCrory too. I've been very impressed with him this season on special teams and when he's gotten the opportunity to see the field on defense. Something that impressed me yesterday was his sack. He aggressively put the quarterback under duress but at the last moment broke down into a balanced position so as not to be "faked out" and miss the QB. Rather than trying to make the big hit he seemed more interested in making the play. Impressive. I like what I've seen from our young LBs.

The play by McCracken was special too. Went through and over the blocker. That play gave me some optimism for next year that maybe there are indeed some more guys ready to step in and make their mark on the d-line.

Guys like Danneker and Sink give me hope for next years OL as Kitrell and Meservy have played forever. Other names mentioned like DL guys Conrad and McCracken and Coleman also bode well.

I like brother Rourke, yet find it hard to believe that we won’t pick up a JUCO or transfer. It looks like QB will be the key to OUr success or lack of same.

I think we can be very good next year. Even with the loss of Hagan, I believe our defense will improve based on the way the young guys have played.

I'm particularly interested in seeing what Allison can do with another year in the weight room...that plus ball security work, and he can be an absolute sledgehammer.

At a minimum, there should be a Keszei, Rourke, Harris competition at QB. We'll no doubt have a drop off at that position initially, but with all our young guys on that side of the ball returning more experienced and stronger, perhaps Nathan's replacement just needs to be a good game manager at first.

Doc, any update on Daxon's situation?
He’s still on the roster....but last words I heard were out of shape and grade problems.

The Offensive Line will return Sink, Danneker, Kittrel and Meservey all who started/played many games this season or in years past. The TE's/WR's all return as do the RB's. This offense will not be as bad as many fans think. The defense also returns plenty of players. Already looking forward to spring ball in March and April.
